The Bride of Christ

Revelation 19:6-8 NIV
Google Image
“Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and be glad
   and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean,
   was given her to wear.”

I think every little girl dreams about her wedding day and makes plans drawing and designing her wedding dress. Figuring out and planning the banquet, dreaming about where she would love to go for her honeymoon and who her husband will be. It is a day in a woman's life that she gets to be a princess, the belle of the ball with every eye on her and her husband gazing at her with longing in his eyes. He desires her and his eyes and mind are on her and her alone. He loves her so much that he would die for her.

Her whole childhood and through the teen years she dreams about her wedding day and when she knows who her husband will be, she may prepare for her wedding day all year long gathering with her friends, who become her bridesmaids and her matron of honour, preparing, planning and giggling together. She dreams of her husband to be. He is tall, handsome, (on the inside), strong and has eyes only for her. He is a man who she can lean on and know without a doubt that she could find protection in his arms, a place to weep; security knowing he will protect her at all costs. She studies him, wanting to know everything about him and her love for him grows with each passing day.

When we become Christians, we become part of a body of believers who are the bride of Christ. There is a wedding banquet and we are the belle of the ball, but in this marriage, Jesus is the center of attraction, not His bride. We, the bride, need to make ourselves ready for His coming and our white dress is our righteous acts. We need to study our husband to be and we have His Word, the Bible, to know who He is and how much He loves us. We need to keep ourselves pure by not having other idols or gods in our lives. He is the perfect husband, for He has no fault in Him and His love for us is so complete that we can rest in His arms and find the protection we need at all times.

Our husband is preparing to come and call His bride home, will you be ready? Will you know His voice when He calls? Study His word, get to know His face by seeking Him. He will reveal Himself to you. He is coming, let's prepare our dress while we have time. Matthew 25:1-13, explains what will happen to those who are prepared and those who are not...v13

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour."

Revelation 19:11-16 NIV

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

  4. Great post - Amen! Yes, waiting for and anticipating Christ's return.

"His love for us is so complete..." We only see His love so dimly here on Earth. He will dazzle us with a new facet of His love everyday in eternity! So glad you came by my blog, and thanks for taking time to leave comments. Have a blessed evening :) ~Lori

  5. Hi Lori,
    Thanks for stopping by! :)

I don't think we even have the words to describe how will we see Him and His love in heaven. Awesome, wonderful and words like these are only scratching the surface of who He is.

Thanks also for leaving words of encouragement.

    Blessings,

  6. He is the perfect husband. What a beautiful image of our personal relationship with our Lord because in this material world, we can grasp onto the depth of devotion in the pure marriage of husband and wife ... even for a guy, like me. I do want to know Christ more, and my love to grow with each passing day. Thank you for tying it all together for us. Great posting.

  7. Hi Brian,
I believe, for a guy, this is a hard concept to grasp and is easily explained from a woman's point of view. Glad the message came across pretty clear.

I too, want to know Him more and my love for Him to grow with each passing day.

Blessings and thanks for stopping by.

  8. Child Of God, Hi, popped in to visit your blog and once again you have given me much to think about. I'm not sure whether Jesus views me as a bride or a child. He certainly has a firm hold on me and lets me know just what He thinks of me. That sword that comes from His mouth is the word of God. It cuts deeper than any sword of steel, it divides spirit and soul.
Thank you Lord for everything, no matter what.
God bless you Child of God, Geoff.

  9. Hi Geoff,

I have noticed you followed, thank you!

I think God thinks of us in many ways; child, servant, brother/sister, wife, church, friend and so on. It is so hard to wrap my mind around it sometimes.

This is cool, to hear He has a firm hold on you!! Doesn't that feel so secure? I love the feel of His hold on my life, just wonderful! I bleed when He speaks for His word does cut me right to the quick, but that I do not mind for in the healing He makes me better than before. This I crave, to be like Him.

    Blessings to you too.

  13. Hi Emily,

It is exciting preparing for His coming. When I look at this, in the way explained in this post I am eager to prepare by making sure my heart is right and then telling people about Him and taking care of those that are in need. It is fun and very exciting.

    Blessings,
