Urgent Prayer for Phoebe

Please pray for Phoebe and her family, she is declining and in need of a lot of covering.

From An Atypical Miracle

We are keeping vigil around our sweet girl as she declines. I will never be ready to say goodbye and even with all the waiting it will take me by surprise. A world without Phoebe Fair, how can it be…

Surfing on Faith

Quite the picture huh? Source is Mpora and the caption is: Giant Wave Catches Surfers.
Source
Running is a passion of mine and my best runs are often in the wee hours of the morning before the sun rises for the day. I love to run with some good, fast worship music and I spend the whole time of my run praying for those Father lays on my heart and worshiping Him. This morning, after an intense spiritual warfare from yesterday, Father kept bringing to my mind storms and the intensity of fierce storms that threaten to drown us. He led me to the image of super high waves and a surfer. This picture does not do the image in my mind justice but it was the best I could find. Father told me that we are to surf the stormy waves on faith that Jesus is right there with us protecting, guiding, growing, nurturing and loving us through it. Scripture tells us that we are safe even in the midst of disaster if we keep faith in Him whose Word is Truth.
Mark 4:35-41 NIV
That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
What struck me is that He said to 'surf''. Surf has a few meanings: the swell of the sea that breaks on the shore or on shoals, foamy water caused by the breaking of the sea upon a shore, especially a shallow or sloping shore, to float on the crest of a wave toward shore, to ride a surf board, to surf the internet. Definitions taken from Dictionary.com Surf All of these definitions mean to stay afloat and to travel in some way. Surfboard implies gliding across the water or, in some instances, sand or snow, or now, which is very common, glide the waves of the internet and search on the computer. All of these imply staying afloat on whatever surface is under us. If we put our trust in Jesus Christ and His Word in Scripture, we WILL stay afloat no matter how ominous our situation maybe.

If God said it then we are to believe it!! Amen?
Hebrews 11:1 ESV
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Prayer Please!! Phoebe & Jaxson

PRAYER FOR PHOEBE & JAXSON

Phoebe has been struggling quite a bit with neuropathy (nerve pain) in her feet and legs. It makes her pretty miserable at night. She has also had high fever over the past 48 hours which makes her feel crummy. Through it all she hasn’t lost her determination and will. She never ceases to amaze us.
-Nathan

Just had my heart literally ripped in half. Although Jaxson will recover from this and be home in a week or so the doctors say it will definitely happen again, and all through out his life span. I knew when I had Jaxson it was going to be a rough road for him and for his family. But I had no other choice. He deserved the right to live. The doctors agree that he very well wouldn't be here today if I hadn't taken him. The doctors also say that with his complications, especially in his brain, that even the simplest cold could be life threatening. They almost made it seem like we should anticipate his death eventually. They involved palliative care for 'extra resources'. I'm sorry for those who are reading this on Facebook and I haven't talked to in person yet. I just don't have it in me to repeat these words. Its really scary to not kniw how much time we have left with him. But I know Jaxson will be Ok whether he is here or with God. Thank you all for continuing to love and support our Jaxson and for making his life more meaningful and for letting him into your hearts. He really is the biggest sweetheart on this planet.

Now my heart is ripped into quarters. Palliative team came in, they've been following him since I've been pregnant. They talked about all sorts of things that I need to 'keep in mind' and 'think about'. They asked if we extubated and he needed to be re intubated would we go through with it, would we give him a trach, would we keep him on a ventilator permanently, would we continue with constant aggressive medical attention and hospitilizations? I'm so absolutely sick to my stomach. People may be against this and think I'm wrong but I will not let my baby live off a ventilator or a trach, I won't do it. He will not have a good life. If he's breathing on his own then I feel his quality of life will be Ok but it won't be if he's on a vent. I just can't make these decisions right now. I am so sick.

I just can't do this right now I am falling apart.

Please stand in the gap and lift Phoebe and Jaxon up to our Father in heaven who hears all of our prayers. Thank you so very much!!

John 15:7 ESV
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Epidermolysis Bullosa, EB

Sometimes I don't hear any updates on the children I'm praying for. Ava Rose is one little girl that I haven't heard how she's been doing in awhile. Ava suffers from Epidermolysis bullosa, EB, the nasty disease that all it takes is a little rub and the skin blisters and comes off leaving an open, raw sore. Apparently, though, Ava has been doing amazingly well! Praise GOD!!! Here is a Facebook update, Praying for Ava Rose, on Ava from her aunt...

Ava Rose
So many wonderful things happening for Ava right now - forgive our absence as we've been rejoicing and just plain having a blast with her!
I don't often get to spend much time with Ava as I live in Baltimore and she lives in New Jersey, but the other week I had the privilege of getting some one on one time with her when she was in SUCH a fantastic and hysterical mood! I know my family keeps telling me that these times are often, but I usually don't get to witness them in my short periods of time with Ava and let me tell you - what a heart swell I had as she kept grabbing my hand to walk around my parents' house, jump on the bed, "scare" Papito and Aunt C, dance, and laugh her little precious head off as we goofed around. She was being a normal and happy two year old and while I know everyone else gets to witness this often, I do not and it made me so SO happy to get that window of opportunity with her.
Ava has been having regular iron infusions which have helped so much with her healing process. Many of the abrasions on her face are shrinking day by day and the one that was on her eye earlier this year (that at that point kept growing and growing) is all but gone right now!
We praise God for the blessing of Ava's life and that He sees us fit to be her family and we are now rejoicing together in these happy and wonderful moments that we get to share with her.
There is still pain, and there are still moments of hurt and misery - but there are so many more of hope, love, joy, happiness, and healing. Thank you all for your love, prayers, and constant support. You're all pure amazing.
- Monica (Ava's Aunt Monkey)

Children are so amazing! It seems no matter the kind of difficulties they must endure they tend to thrive. No wonder Father tells us to be like little children. They are trusting, loving, forgiving, positive and in extreme discomfort they can still be joyful and they bounce back from sickness really quickly.
Matthew 18:1-5 ESV
At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, ...

What Do Your Actions Say?

Romans 8:5 NIV
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
Source

I love the caption on this picture!

Changing our thinking pattern will change our walk. I know many Christians who say 'I'm only human', and that gives them the freedom to sin. If we tell ourselves we are saved then the excuse to sin will be lessened and the more we walk in way of the Spirit the more fruit we will produce and the fleshy desires will be replaced by the desires of Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:13 NIV
For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
In the above verse, Paul is speaking to believers, Christians like you and me. It is very plain to see that if we are living fleshy lives we will die. I am not a believer of once saved always saved. With verses like Romans 8:13 how can anyone believe this?
Romans 8:14-17
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
If we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us and we willingly follow we are children of God and brothers and sisters to Jesus Christ, but we need to share in Christ's sufferings so we can also share in His glory. I believe that denying our flesh is suffering and sometimes to a very great extent. The temptations of this world and the draw to blend in can be very difficult to stay away from, especially with all the media that surrounds us. Walking in the footsteps of Jesus, denying our flesh, in the year 2013 makes a Christian stand out like a beacon, which, by the way, is just what we want to do!

I'm saved and I want my actions to shout it out to all who see me.

What about you?

Blessings,

Jesus Is The Message

Galatians 2:19-21 NIV
“For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
The law does not bring freedom only rules, regulations and often frustration at the fact that we cannot keep the law! If we need the law for salvation then like this passage says, Christ died for nothing!

Jesus came to give us freedom! Not freedom to sin but freedom from sin on our soul. It seems, though, that our world does not want to hear about Jesus and to say His name in some public places can get you into a heap of trouble.

People need to hear about Jesus and that through Him there is freedom. Don't let society stop you from spreading the only Good News that can truly set you free.

Little Bear

Job 12:7 ESV
“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you;..."

My camera has been in the repair shop for the past two months. It sure is frustrating!! Anyway, here are some sweet phone pictures of my friend who I do believe is an orphan cub that the family and I saw at the beginning of spring time.

He is dining out in the apple tree right beside the house. I have tracked this fellow and have found his path that goes up into the mountain. He comes down 3 or 4 times a day to graze in the tree and much in the garden. He apparently does not like squash. ;P

Psalm 145:9 ESV
The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.

He Will Deliver Us

Part of my Scripture reading today covered 2 Corinthians 1 and verses 8-11 really stood out to me. I wanted to share with you my thoughts on this passage and would love to hear what you have gleaned from this part of Scripture that is full of wisdom.
2 Corinthians 1:8-11 NIV
We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

While Paul and his companions were in Asia they underwent trauma that was outside of their ability to withstand. Father had the squeeze on them so much that they were afraid they were at the point of death. I wonder what that looked like. What did they go through that made them believe they were going to die?  And, what did they do when they chose

I have been in some pretty intense spiritual warfare where I feel like I am about to die. It is when I come to the end of self and cry out to God, seeking Him and His will that the intensity is lessen, self is broken and I learn and grow in Him trusting that His Word is Truth and He will do as He says if I obey Him. If Father never sent trials into my life I know that I wouldn’t grow in Him. Who needs God when you have everything you want? It is during these tough times when our world is rocked that we look for Him or to Him.

Paul mentions in verse 11 that it is the prayers of those covering him and his companions that helped them get through the trials. If you are in a trial be it financial, marital, physical or spiritual you need to be covered in prayer. Prayer works! This is a very precious tool that we are given and it is so easy to do. I encourage you to seek prayer covering and often. Don’t be ashamed to ask for someone to pray for you or to offer to pray for someone.

Our Father will send tough, hard times into our lives. Like Paul mentioned these are not to harm us but to help us grow in Him.

Blessings in Christ,

Devastation in Syria; End Time Prophecy?

End time prophecy of Damascus, it is really coming true in our life time?

Following the news in the middle east can cause turmoil in our emotions. I cannot help but wonder if Jesus will come and rapture His church in my life time. Thinking on this wonderful event fills me with a mixture of emotions. Joy, anxiety, concern, gloom are only a few of the feelings I have when I think about being swept up into heaven with my King. The thoughts of joy quickly turn to gloom when at the same time I think about the many people suffering physically and those who do not know Jesus as Savior or have turned away from Him. Can this event really happen now or it is still many, many years away? Scripture tells us in Isaiah 17 and Jeremiah 49 that Damascus will be fully destroyed to the point of, Isaiah 17:1, becoming a heap of ruins

Here is a short 5 minute discussion from American Live on Syria and Biblical prophecy with Joel Rosenberg.

Do we know for certain that this is ushering in the Rapture and the direct coming of our Messiah?
No. Scripture tells us...
Matthew 24:36 ESV
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only."
But, is it possible that what is happening in Syria is the beginning of the complete destruction of this city?
Yes it is possible.
So what should we be doing? We need to be praying for those who are suffering in such a horrific way and praying for the salvation of those who are lost.
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Blessings,

Jesus, He Is There

Tears streamed down my face as I read this latest update on Phoebe. I hope Amey doesn't mind that I copied and pasted the whole post to share with you. I just don't have the heart to step into this time with Phoebe to ask if I could share, I am sure she would say yes.

Source

My little “bright, illuminated light” grows dim. It is almost imperceptible and then suddenly I realize that she is different. She doesn’t eat anymore, a bite of ice cream and then it melts in the bowl, or she carries a popsicle around until she decides against eating it. Suddenly- no need to stock her beloved pistachios- “stachios”, her tortilla chips or Cheerios. And she stares..off into a faraway place at times and I can’t call her back with my voice. Only my touch brings her back to me. Could be small seizures says Jan, our hospice nurse, but maybe not. She has a more difficult time completing sentences and loses her train of thought. And today:
Phoebe: “Mommy, know who slept with me last night?”
Me: “Yes, Grammy slept with you last night.”
Phoebe: “No, Jesus slept with me last night.”
Me: “Jesus slept with you?”
Phoebe: “Yes, God.”

She makes comments like this more and more and I wonder how thin the veil is becoming.
You know, when a light flickers just before it goes out? This is that. She has these moments of breakthrough clarity and tells me amazing things. And then she grows dim again. She speaks less, shuffles. She fell yesterday. And somehow I can get up and brush my teeth. Sufficient grace. Calm before the storm. I try to brace myself for what’s coming, ready myself for impact.
I have scrubbed this house from floor to ceiling, and there are 5 new bulging trash bags worth of stuff at Goodwill. I am nesting in reverse. Planning for the days I can’t get out of bed and face the world, when the sun is too bright and the birdsong outside my window doesn’t match the ache I feel inside. I am not unaware that those days wait for me. I have been there before, but this will far surpass those depths.
Jesus is in the depths. I know He is. I will find Him there, partake in His sufferings. There will be new insight. Hard earned.
I find myself needing to protect the time we have with her. The time for sharing is ending and the time for staying close is here. My mother love will orbit her, do what more I can do for her. I imagine it will be like in those first days, in our bedroom in Mexico, when the night breeze blew the leaves of the Jacaranda tree on our patio and in through our window where I nursed at 2 am and 4 am. By moonlight I stroked her head and marveled that at last I had a daughter.
In my mind I imagine a peaceful transition. I know it often isn’t so. Please pray for peace for Phoebe. God is already so obviously present with her and that comforts me to no end.
`Amey
Psalm 23:4 ESV
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Nothing is impossible for our God.

If a healthy Phoebe here on earth is in accordance with Father's will then this will be so because through Him all things are possible. Please continue to ask Father to heal Phoebe.

Matthew 19:26 ESV

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Luke 1:37 ESV

"For nothing will be impossible with God.”

Mark 9:23 ESV

And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.”

Mark 10:27 ESV

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”

Believe that Father will answer our prayers and please pray for peace and comfort for the family.

Update on Phoebe & Jaxson

Revelation 21:4 ESV

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Some days are better than others for Phoebes…she is pretty emotional right now and that can be difficult for everyone. The car seems to soothe her and help her sleep so we have been doing a lot of driving. Nathan drove around town for 5 hours the other day so she could sleep well. She seems to feel more comfortable sleeping at an incline, likely from the pressure in her head. She won’t eat much else besides popsicles and sometimes ice-cream although she’ll ask for 5 different things trying to find something to make her feel better.
Today she grabbed her little noggin and took off at a full run trying to escape the pain. I remember her doing this before she was diagnosed with the first tumor and it is disheartening to see again. I am hopeful that we will see improvement as the radiation does it’s job reducing the tumor size.
For now, she needs relief, the boys need grace for her mood swings and we just need prayer. Thank you for surrounding us with your love and support.
-amey

Well there's good news and bad. The good is his xrays are looking better! Lungs are becoming dry and expanding. Bad news is he can't keep up his o2s for nothing tonight. This mask he's wearing isn't even working well. I am praying so hard that he doesn't have to go on a ventilator because that will be a HUGE setback. Tonight has been plain awful.

Thank you for your continued prayers for these dear sweet children who are suffering more than any child should

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ESV

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Awake, awake!!

Isaiah 51:9 ESV
Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord; awake, as in days of old, the generations of long ago. Was it not you who cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the dragon?

Love The One

Confession:
I have not read the book 'Awake' but I am trying, for the past 10 years or so, to live my life fully awake for the Lord.

Does world poverty overwhelm you?
Do you think that it is just too big so you just ignore it?
Sometimes I think that if I do anything it will go unnoticed. How can just one person, like me, make a difference in this huge scale of poverty, or sickness. I thought, how can this blog make a difference for God.
How?

Proverbs 21:13 ESV
Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered.

One person at a time, loving on one person at a time

Love the one.

Romans 13:11 ESV
Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.

Our Lord is ready to take over if we will only take the first step in helping those who are in need.
Love the one and He will multiply that into hundreds and thousands.

I'm sure lots of you are doing this already but if you haven't yet maybe you might be interested in checking out these sites:

If you are looking for some motivation why don't you check out the book 'Awake' by Noel Yeatts. I watched a few of the above trailers and I found what she had to say was full of passion and love for the one.

In March 2012 I did a post on Love The One
This post was centered around Heidi Baker and a message of just loving the one, that is what we need to do. If you want a bit more motivation please check it out here.

Remember Love The One

SMA Type 1

Florence Marigold

Yesterday I received an email for a prayer request for a beautiful 18 month old girl named Florence Marigold.

Here is the email...

Hi there,
My parents are friends with the Unrau's ( Jordan Unrau). I came across your page while looking for Jordan's memorial service video.
I have a prayer request!
My daughter Florence (age 18 months) has SMA type 1. Prognosis is not good (most little ones die before their second birthday).
I blog at www.michaelaevanow.com
About our life. We need a miracle and breakthrough. She is getting weaker, and if she gets a cold it could be very serious and life threatening. Yes, just a simple cold.
She has very low muscle tone, so her body can't do much. Since our last visit to the ICU, which was 6 weeks, she's had a feeding tube put in and non invasive breathing support for night time.
All I can say is we need a creative miracle.

Michaela blogs at Michaela Evanow a mamma on a journey of faith. Let's storm the heavens with our prayers for a creative miracle for Florence. Our Father is Healer and all Florence needs is for Father to say the word and she will be healed, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Here is a brief description of SMA Type 1, Spinal Muscular Atrophy,

The diagnoses of type 1 SMA is usually made when the child is between 3 – 6 months of age. This is the most severe form of SMA. Some mothers even notice a decreased movement in the final months of her pregnancy. A child with type 1 is typically never able to lift his/her head or accomplish the normal gross and fine motor skills expected early on in infancy. They generally have poor head control, and may not kick their legs as vigorously as they should. They typically never bear weight on their legs or sit unsupported. Swallowing and feeding may be difficult and are usually affected at some point, and the child may show some difficulties managing their own secretions. Tremors can be seen on the tongue. There is weakness of the intercostal muscles (the muscles between the ribs) that help expand the chest when breathing. The chest is often smaller than usual, giving the trunk a bell shape. The child with SMA type 1 generally uses the diaphragm to breath, giving them the appearance to breathe with their stomach. Due to this type of breathing, the lungs never fully develop, the child has a weak cough. They may have a difficult time taking a deep breath while sleeping, affecting their ability to maintain normal oxygen and carbon dioxide levels.

How the effects of a fallen world are hurting our children! Oh Jesus, please come soon!!

As always, I thank you for your prayers. Father is hearing us, we need to be faithful in upholding those who are in need.

Psalm 91 NIV
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.a

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,

nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,

no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.

For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;

they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
