Where's Your Security?

Google Image
Everyone has their security in something. When you are young it is in your parents. Then as you grow it is in your friends, school, then job, wife/husband, finances, house, etc... These securities are earthly and are not reliable. Your parents and friends can hurt you, turn their back on you and you are left with insecurity issues and character faults. School and job may not turn out the way you want them to go, the mark you were expecting isn't up to speed and the secure job you had is now non existent. Wife/husband may not always be there for you and your marriage might be falling apart. The finances that you thought were secure all of a sudden takes a dive and the thousands of dollars that were there just moments before is gone. The mortgage on your house is due and there are no funds to pay for it. These securities are earthly and can be here today and gone tomorrow. There is nothing on this earth that will not, one day, pass away. The only true security is in the promise of God through Jesus Christ, an inheritance in heaven.

1 Timothy 6:17 NIV
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

Putting our hope in the promise of God is the only thing that will never pass away. No one can take this from you, not ever. Not even Satan can snatch you from the Creator's hands.

Matthew 6:19-21 NIV
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

So when the stock markets crash and the world seems to be falling apart right before our very eyes, you will have a security that will never be shaken. The promise of eternal life in a place where there is no evil and never a reason to worry again. Praise God!

Romans 8:38-39 NIV
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Thank You

Kerrie over at Eagle Altitude has made me a blog button!!! :) Thank you sister, it is beautiful and I am so humbled that you would do this for me. Normally I am short winded when it comes to words, now I am speechless.
Now, I am trying to figure out how to put it to a HTML coding so if you wanted you could take it, but I don't know how. When I figure it out I will put it up.

Thank you Kerrie, thank you!

Colossians 1:9-14 NIV
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Approaching God

Google Image
I find that in today's age people want to treat God and His Son as their best buddy. I don't believe this is wrong to do at all for I call Jesus my brother and very best friend, for He is God's son and we are adopted and grafted into the family of God, but we must also remember God is Holy and needs, at times, to be treated as such. Although it is totally fine to approach God as Daddy all snugly, safe and warm, we must also show Him and His Son respect and remember They are Holy.

1 Kings 18:42 NIV

...but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees.

Exodus 3:5-6 NIV

“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

Most often my prayer times are very casual but every now and then I feel the need to lay prostrate in front of my Holy King or bend the knee to Him in prayer and when approaching Him our hearts should be full of thanksgiving even if things are going really bad in our lives.

Philippians 4:4-6 NIV
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

We are told to come to God in all things through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 3:12 NIV
In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

We are also told to pour out our heart to God and cast our cares on Him.

Psalm 55:22 NIV
Cast your cares on the LORD
   and he will sustain you;
he will never let

    the righteous be shaken.

Our God is a very approachable God but let us remember that He is a Holy God and even Elijah, a very powerful man of God, approached God with his face between his knees.

more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.

J E S U S  C H R I S T

Have you ever found yourself waiting and waiting for God to fulfill His promise to you? Have you ever wondered how long it will take? Do you question if the LORD is really listening to you? Do things seem to fall apart right in front of your very eyes and you think things will never be right again. I do. Sometimes I say to God, "Really now...why LORD? Why must it be this way? When will You intervene? When will You make things right?" Every single time I ask God this I am always reminded of David and Sarah. How long Sarah had to wait for a son and all the trials David went through. I end up saying to God, "Your way LORD, not mine for You know better than me and Your way always turns out, but hurry LORD for I am weak". God comes in and gives me a strength that I know wasn't there before. He fills me and a piece of myself falls away and He comes in place. One day I will exist no more and He will exists fully in me.

God always knows best and His ways are always right. We need to trust Him; lay it all at His feet, give up ourselves and allow Him to rule.

Empowered by the Holy Spirit

Jesus is conceived through the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb, anointed  by the Holy Spirit at His baptism, empowered by the Holy Spirit through His wilderness temptations, and emerges from the temptations full of the Spirit.

Luke 4:18-19 NIV
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
   because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners

and recovery of sight for the blind,

to set the oppressed free,

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
John 14:12-14 NIV

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Jesus' ministry was empowered by the Holy Spirit therefore as followers of Jesus we too should be empowered by the Holy Spirit. Jesus commissioned us to preach the Gospel. I believe when we preach the simple truth of the Gospel miracles will follow in the tracks. The greatest miracle is the healing of a soul. Once the soul is healed the physical healing will follow. The ultimate goal of Jesus is not a healthy body but a healthy soul resulting in a healthy body.

Hebrews 4:12-13 NIV

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

The Gospel is sharp and is capable of cutting away the lies that man attaches to it. Spread the simple Gospel of Jesus Christ and many people will come to know Christ for the Holy Spirit will divide the lies from the truth and He will be known; Praise God!

Prayer & Fasting Changes Nations

Saturday August 27 2011 pray and fast for Canada.

While Jesus was with us He clearly stated that His house was to be a house of prayer. Jesus regularly immersed Himself in public and private prayer. He taught us how to pray by giving us the Our Father, Matthew 6:9-14, and the church started in prayer.

Acts 1:12-14 NIV
Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city. When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

Prayer works and when combined with fasting it shows God that we are serious about our request. That we want to align ourselves up with Him, that we are willing to forgo self and put on Christ.

The CRY Canada
This Saturday August 27 The CRY Canada, is having a day of prayer and fasting in our nations capital, Ottawa Ontario. This is a cry for a national awakening, if you feel led join me in fasting and praying for our nation.

There is power in the name of Jesus.

Family Time

Snowbell (mountain flowers)
I have just had a whole lot of family from my husbands side visiting and it seems in the next few weeks we will be having more! (He has a huge family 11 in all) It has been busy around here between all of the farm chores and entertaining a house full I have not had the time to keep up with blogging. :s I have been praying, lots and lots, and keeping up with the people I have been praying for but aside from that I really haven't been on this computer. I must admit I did have computer with drawls but that, I assure you, didn't last long. ;P

It was so great seeing the cousins spending time together, city kids mixing with country home school kids. There was a lot of time outside fishing and swimming in the creek, ministering to them through music, prayer and just our family interactions. Great time of bonding and hoping and praying the Holy Spirit touches them.

In between family visits the kids, hubby and I went mountain hiking...so much fun! We drove north a few hours then headed for a 18 km hike into the snow! Usually at this time of year there is not much snow at the tops of the mountains but because we have had such a cool summer and a lot of rain, the snow didn't melt.

Chillin on the mountain top

Mountain hike 2011

Soon my hubby's mom and dad will come for a visit but before they come I need to decide what to do for my son's grade 11 school year. My daughter needs the other half of her university books, which we are finding out to be really expensive. Life moves on, time passes and I look back and just praise God that I have Him in my life!

Please continue to pray for Summer, as this new medicine is WORKING! She is on her way to remission. :) Click here to read her last post.

If you could remember me in your prayers I would really appreciate it, it seems I am having an RA flare :( I guess it is all the extra work I am doing, lack of sleep and I think some food that I shouldn't be eating has been in my diet. Thanks!

Ecclesiastes 11:7-9 NIV
Light is sweet,
and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.
However many years anyone may live,
   let them enjoy them all.
But let them remember the days of darkness,
   for there will be many.
   Everything to come is meaningless.
You who are young, be happy while you are young,
and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth.
Follow the ways of your heart
   and whatever your eyes see,
but know that for all these things
God will bring you into judgment.

God Bless,

More Praises

Summer has some very good news! This latest medicine seems to be working! Here is a list, taken right from Summer's blog, of the improvements.

Summer
Differences we are noticing:

1. I can walk down the steps a little longer without getting out of breathe.

2. I am able to get up  better from a sitting position. I still need a bit of help but not as much.

3. We were out to eat and the hubs noticed I can hold on to things a bit longer without dropping them.

4. Little Miss Kelcee has noticed my legs are getting a bit stronger. She said “mommy the medicine it’s working!! It’s working!!” She is the sweetest ever...now she thinks she is my personal trainer and the past few days she says mommy do this, mommy can you do this? It’s really cute!

5. I am not as in as much PAIN as I have been!! This is a biggie...I am not in as much PAIN! I am so excited about this one!

I know I still have a loooong way to go BUT these are changes we are already noticing....and although they may seem small to people who don’t know our story they are BIG BIG DIFFERENCES to us and that we thank GOD for so very much!! I know it is still early to tell what this medicine is going to do BUT I have very hi9gh hopes that this poison is my Remedy...and for that I am smiling so BIG!!

I am so happy for you Summer!! Pretty soon you will be running just like the girl in the picture! Always praying and praying for you girl, you have this one. :)

1 Chronicles 16:33-35 NIV
Let the trees of the forest sing,
let them sing for joy before the LORD,
for he comes to judge the earth.
 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
   his love endures forever.
Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior;
gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
   and glory in your praise.”

Father,
Thank you for having this medicine work on Summer. Please heal her the whole way. Allow her muscles to be strong so she can run with Kelcee and make it to the top of that hill she so wants to climb. Allow her to be able to crawl with Kelcee and walk and be pain free. You are so good but this has been a very rough road she has been on and it so so nice to see the end is in sight.
Thank you, more please! In the name of Jesus, amen.

Praises are Due!

First praise:
Google Image
Lisa had her surgery and is at home recovering!!! PRAISE GOD!!! I just received an email from her and she is very thankful for all those who have been praying for her. Her making it through this surgery is a miracle from God as her surgeon, up until Lisa went under, wanted to cancel the surgery but he felt compelled to go through with it. There were a few complications after the surgery and Lisa needed a blood transfusion and her lungs collapsed. She ended up with breathing difficulties and a lung infection but she is now home and on her way to recovery.

If you remember, Lisa was told there was a very good chance that she would not make it through this surgery but her quality of life was so poor that she chose to go through with it even through there were great risks. Please continue to pray for Lisa as she still needs to recover. Please also pray for her family as this must be very tough on her children.

Second praise:

Google Image
Ian's, an ordinary mom scan from the MRI came back clear!! PRAISE GOD!!! His spine is clear! Please continue to pray as on Monday Ian will be getting a lumbar puncture/spinal tap to check the cerebral-spinal fluid for any cancer cells. Please pray this test comes back negative and the cancer has not metastasized.

Just a little note to show you all how many people are praying for Ian, there is a facebook prayer event set up and it is now at 29,107! If you have a facebook account maybe you might want to join in.

Psalm 136:1-4 NIV

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good.

His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.

His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:

His love endures forever.
to him who alone does great wonders,

His love endures forever.

Thank you Father, You alone are good!

Prayer Request 17 Year Old Boy

Google Image
Just a few days ago I saw a Twitter message from Rachel at Finding Joy asking for prayer for a 17 year old boy named Ian. Ali, Ian's mom has a blog called An ordinary mom. Ian has been diagnosed with medulloblastoma the same cancer that is afflicting Keegan and Lucy.

Please pray against medulloblastoma. Pray that the spinal tap and MRI show no cancer cells and no spreading of this tumor. The family needs prayers too as their van has just died and this mother of 8 is in need of reliable transportation. The youngest, baby Faith, is wheezing. If this continues then Ali who is nursing Faith, cannot take her with her when she visits Ian which will complicate the whole nursing schedule.

Ephesians 6:18 NIV

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Hebrews 5:7 NIV

During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.

Casting Crowns

'Praise You In The Storm'

So many people I know, are going through all kinds of storms right now and my heart aches for you. If you are going through storms right now, this song is for you.

Exodus 15:2-3 NIV
“The LORD is my strength and my defense;
   he has become my salvation.
He is my God, and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
The LORD is a warrior;
   the LORD is his name.

Isaiah 25:1-3 NIV
LORD, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for in perfect faithfulness
   you have done wonderful things,
   things planned long ago.
You have made the city a heap of rubble,
   the fortified town a ruin,
the foreigners’ stronghold a city no more;
   it will never be rebuilt.
Therefore strong peoples will honor you;
cities of ruthless nations will revere you.

Blessings,

Beatitudes

Google Image
Many people who come to Christ believe they will be delivered from all of their troubles. This is not so, He will provide deliverance while in trouble.

John 16:33 NIV

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Psalm 91:1-2 NIV

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

God does not give us a conquering life, but He gives us life as we rise above the situation. If you want your body to become strong you need to exercise it.  It is the strain of the exercise that strengthens the muscles. It is almost the same with your spirit. The more you exercise your spirit, first by reading God's word, then stepping out in faith in obedience to His word, the stronger your spirit will become. The difference between exercising your body and exercising your spirit is the body will become exhausted but the spirit will only become stronger and will never tire.

When we stay in God's word and in the center of God's will then when trials and tribulation come He will provide all that we will need to overcome the situation. It is when we wander from His will that we will fall flat on our face. I know, I have fallen many times and I have found that it is not only safe in the center of His will but it is also very rewarding.

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Where is this hope and future? In heaven.  Christians are citizens of heaven not of this earth. When you give your life to Christ you give up the earthly way and take on God's way.

Philippians 3:19-21 NIV

Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

God will make a way when there seems like there is no way. Keep the faith, trust in Him and stay in the center of His will by reading and then obeying His word.

Matthew 5:3-12 NIV
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,

   for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,

for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

   for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,

for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,

   for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
