Answerable to Jesus

Jude 1:4 NIV
For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

As Christians, we do not have a license to sin. We are held at a higher level of accountability than non-Christian. Our lives should stand apart and we should not be like others who do not believe in Jesus Christ. The life of a Christian should be so different than the worldly people; a living testimony to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. How does this living testimony look? A life covered in humility, repentance, forgiveness and love. Does this mean we are perfect? No way! It means when you fall down flat, you pick yourself up, dust off, repent, forgive and keep on walking towards Jesus.

  1. I want my life to point others to Jesus. I always want to walk in humility, being quick to forgive, not judge others, walking in love. It's something I strive for!

  3. Hi Barbie,
I agree with you! I love that word, 'strive'. Striving for Jesus!!

    Hi Nikki,
    Hearts joined in agreement; awesome!

    Hi JBR,
I use to hate being accountable, but I see that is a trick of Satan because there is healing and comradeship in accountability.

    Blessings,

  6. As I was sitting in a waiting room last friday a news story came on tv about a man who is suing two peopel who anonymously made derogatory and damaging comments on facebook about his wife. They said he was finding out who they were and pursuing defamation charges against them. I think that is great..
People tend to think because it's the internet, they can say anything and not be accountable for it. The lack of accountability seems to be the way of things in the world today.

God says we will all be held accountable for every idle word we speak, so it is a good idea to get into the habit of bringing every thought (and action) into submission to the Lord.
~I sure missed coming here for your wise council and inspiration~ I have been in a dry place without the internet and my dear friends~

    ~God Bless You~Lisa

  7. Hi Lisa,
The internet and social networks sure do allow for people to not check themselves before they post something that might hurt someone. It can be very dangerous even if you do try to say something right, the tones and facial expressions are lacking so the meaning you are trying to get across may not come in the right way.

I don't believe suing someone is the way to go though. That is just retaliating hatred with hatred. This is not what Jesus teaches us. He teaches us to turn the other cheek and walk the extra mile carrying more than our share of the work load. Unfortunately, not many people are Christian, so they do not follow this teaching. It is very sad and a dark time we are living in.

It is so nice to see you back, I to have missed your fellowship.

    Blessings,

  8. Hello Child of God.
You know, from my own experience, When others recognize the fact that you are a Christian they so want to be able to look up to you as a ray of light in an otherwise dark world. For me it hasn't been so much my feeble attempts to lead others to the Lord that have had an impact, but the times I've refused to participate in things I've known are wrong and turned away, that have left the greatest impression.
Someone wise once said, "If you put a light in a perfect vesel no light can be seen on the outside but if that jar is broken and cracked the light can shine out for everyone to see." I've no idea who said that but it sure has brought a lot of peace to me knowing how imperfect I am.
A great light shines forth from you and those who are in need of hope already turn to you to see for themselves what hope Jesus has given to you. You are doing the right thing and for that many bless you, as do I, Geoff.

  9. Hi Geoff,
Testimony in action is powerful indeed! If you can't walk the talk then don't talk the talk.

Lol! I love that saying. I guess I must be a a crack pot. ;P Seriously,

Thanks for your kind words and the blessing, it came at the perfect timing.

  10. I REALLY needed this today! I'm having a hard time "forgiving" somebody for an awful act, even though I know I am supposed to. I am praying that soon I will have enough understanding to forgive them. Thank you for making me realize this :)

  11. Hi Katy,
I am sad to hear this. :( I will pray that you will be able to forgive soon. Sometimes we just need to forgive without understanding for the understanding will come after.

    Hugs,

  14. accountability?

....i actually detest the word. maybe if others hadn't taken that word and used it so wrongly i wouldn't mind it so much. but the way you used it here...it seems more truthful and i will admit that i feel a bit of conviction in a couple of areas that i fall far short in. since i'm accountable only to Him....that makes me His problem though. right? right:)

  15. Hi Sojourner,
Yea, it is a sharp word and an even sharper verse.

I love how you said that you are His problem. Well, my friend, there is no problem that is too big for Him. :)

I am glad that when it all boils down to the line it is only Him that we sin against and to Him we are accountable. His lessons are hard but His rewards are well worth it all.

    Blessings brother,

  16. We must never forget that grace is not license to sin. Jesus din not die to purchase our freedom to sin. Great post and God bless,
    Ken

  17. Hi Ken,
You know we had a pastor once who use to say "I am free in Jesus Christ, so I am free to watch what I want." When he told me this I had this sinking feeling. At the time I just thought "no, that is not right." Now, I realize that was the Holy Spirit inside of me telling me that was very wrong. We have the freedom to come to Jesus for forgiveness when we sin, but we do not have a licence to do as we please.

    Thanks for stopping!
