Summer

Hi everyone! I am finally back from my camping trip. It was a time of extreme experience and innovations on  the part of my husband and I. :s Let's just say that I am so glad to finally be home. :)

Please lift our sweet sister Summer up in prayer. She is having another flare with so many side affects from DM. Her chemo pills have been increased even though her liver enzymes are still not normal. Please pray that her liver can handle this increase in pills and that her muscles will release. Pray for remission and quick recovery for her.

Summer is such a fighter and I am so proud and honoured to know her. Stand beside me and fight for her. Thanks!!

Isaiah 41:10 NIV
So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Praying and praying for you my sister!

News, Updates & Prayer

Well, the in laws are gone and I have a few days of quiet before my family and I leave on our camping/hiking/farming/wedding trip. I had a couple of weeks that were full of work and fun times with my husbands parents and siblings and their children. My house was full!! The one thing I really missed was my alone time God. I was missing Daddy so much that as I was washing the heap of dishes I had tears streaming down my face as I thought about my quiet, very early morning time with Father. You see my father in law is an early riser just like me and no matter how early I got up he was already up and at it. :) So since I didn't have the time to spend alone with God, I looked for God qualities in my father in law. I found: security, wisdom, knowledge, love and joy. These are things that I never saw before as my father in law is not a Christian but as I looked at him in the view of my heavenly Father I was able to see things in him that mimicked my Daddy. Really, God is so good all of the time!

NEWS:
Do any of you remember Lon from Humble Path? Well, just a few days ago I received an email from him and he told me he has chosen to follow Jesus again. He has closed down his blogs as he feels embarrassed from flipping back and forth from Buddhism to Christianity, but he wanted to let me know his decision and he gave me permission to tell all of you. Here is the email he sent me...

Thanks again, my Sister in Christ!!!
I know where my wife is going to go seeing she has given her life over to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ which is going to be in heaven to spend Eternal Life with Him, and today, I just couldn't stand the thought of not spending my life with her in this marvelous place called heaven.  Plus I'd love seeing you and my other Sisters and Brothers in Christ when I get there.  But here's the catch, for me, I don't want to be left behind, and I don't want to have Jesus Christ say that He doesn't know me when He returns.  This is why I had to return my life over to my only Lord and Savior which is Jesus Christ otherwise my conscious will become burned to the point that it will be too late for me.  I in no way wish to be reincarnated for say until I get it right, because I'll never get it completely right.  Therefore I must choose, and that choice for me, had to be the gift that's free, which is Eternal Life through the Blood of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
If you'd like to share this along with what I've shared with you prior to this on one of your posts, you're more than welcome to my Sister in Christ.

Please join your heart with mine and lift this brother of ours up to our God. Please pray he will stay dedicated to Jesus and resit the temptation to flip back. Thanks!!

NEW:
Brian Todd at Brian Todd's Blog has requested prayer for his mother in law. Below is taken directly from his blog:

Monday, July 30, 2012, my wife’s mother Shirley (83 years young) had a major back surgery procedure performed due to an advanced Scoliosis condition that, not only was tremendously painful daily, but if not corrected would become life-threatening. The curvature of her spine was so severe that her organs were being pushed to one side and the doctors estimated an eleven hour surgery would be required, with 16 pints of blood used. The surgery ended when they ran dangerously short of reserve blood, so the corrective procedure was not completed. She is currently in the Intensive Care Unit recovering from the operation and associated complication, and is rescheduled to undergo the remainder of the corrective surgery in six weeks, when she has gains strength and well enough to handle the second procedure. The main portion of the Scoliosis has been straightened, and the remaining work shall be much quicker and less life threatening. Her daughter has set up a Journal page for Shirley @ http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/shirleylowe that you can check her condition. The main thing is that she needs your intercession prayer. Your prayers are a blessing and much appreciated. Praise the Lord for such a loving godly woman.

UPDATES:
Lucy:
Lucy's scans were great. Her spine looked clear and her brain looked even better than it did a few weeks ago. It's the best birthday present I could have hoped for. Thanks for you continued prayers!

PRAYER:
Wayne:
Wayne had six weeks off from chemo to let his body rest and they were able to get away for a family vacation last week. They had a good time and were able to get some much needed time away for rest and fun.  They got back and immediately he had to have his next infusion...Monday July 31. So, this week has been rough on him. He is feeling discouraged because he just doesn't feel good. Wayne even said,  "this just isn't living". He's tired...achey...and generally just doesn't feel well. I don't know all the symptoms but I do know they aren't good. He really just needs a miracle. I know...and you know...that God is more than able. HE doesn't like for any of HIS children to be sick or suffer in any way. When you think about Wayne if you could please just say a prayer for him and Marge. They are two of the most wonderful people you could ever know and most of all...they both love the LORD with all their hearts. They have told me many times how much they appreciate all the prayers from all of you.

Chelle:
Please remember to pray for Chelle as she has a doctors appointment with the cardiologist August 10th. Pray for a complete healing and no fear! Thanks!!

Emily:

Dr Gowda emailed tonight and said the d dimer was negative and that the Mibg had been scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday! No affirmative time until we hear from radiology! He did email Dr Sholler this morning to advise her of what has transpired at this point and that he had requested for a Mibg here in va unless she wants us to come there! We have not heard a response back from her yet!
So our biggest concern is that these spots are NB! We have taken Emily back off the nifurtimox for now because if she is progressing they will pull her from the trial anyway! We are stopping everything else until we know what is going on!
If there are any NB moms, dads or grandparents that have had any experience with this, please let us know! We are beyond scared and worried and the anxiety is taking the best of us!
This brings our talks of where she would go for treatment if this is our worst nightmare for the 3rd time! Our hope is that these spots go away as her counts go up! Today WBC was only 500 and her ANC is only 200 so we were told Emily is still neutrapenic so to still watch for fevers and because platelets were 20 to watch for any bleeding or bruising!
Please send your love and thoughts that this is just an infection! Remember to hug and kiss your kids every night and tell them how much you love them because you never know when things can change!

Summer:
Please pray for Summer as her liver counts are off the charts and they need to come down or else she will have to have a liver transplant. Please lift our dear sister up to our God. Thanks!

Monday my Rhematologist in the area called with not great news.  My liver enzymes were off the charts.  One should be under 50 and it was 190 the other I don't even want to mention.  The culprit is the chemotherapy pills Methatrexate that I take once a week, that keeps DM down a bit.  Without it I flare so badly they can't get it under control.  I think y'all probably remember the Christmas before last, when they had to stop it for three weeks and I flared for a year, causing DM to blaze and I ended up having to do the Chemotherapy Infusions and now the IVIG/Plasma Infusion/Transfusions.

Joanna:

Dear Friends and Family,
Yesterday marked four months since the beginning of Joanna’s medical situation on April 1st. Most of the last month Joanna has spent seeing various doctors – Gastroenterologist, Acupuncturist, Chiropractor, Dermatologist (annual check), Orthopedist (hip pain), Physical Therapist. When possible and when she had the energy she would get together with various friends.
It feels like this has been a transition month for us: from full speed doctors and other events to learning how to pace ourselves. It has taken over three weeks to arrange the next tests. On Wednesday, August 8, Joanna is scheduled for an Endoscopic Ultrasound. And on Monday, August 13, she is scheduled for an Esophageal Manometry with Impedance. The follow-up appointment with her GI doctor to find out the results of these tests will be Wednesday, August 15.
This was Joanna’s Face book post yesterday:
“Today marks 4 months since this illness has taken over…yet God has been good and gracious through it all. I’m so thankful for all of your prayers, support, and comfort. Thank you!! “
Don and I thank you for your prayers as well. Please continue to pray for Divine healing, medical direction, and Joanna’s strength as the school year is rapidly approaching. Also, please pray for Don and me that would we be patient and yet wise advocates for Joanna as we work with the medical profession.

Jordan:
I don't have any recent news on Jordan as I am waiting for an update on his blog, but he has made a trip to Bethel Church in Redding California to seek prayer for healing. The last update I heard was there was as follows:
Alright … we measured tonight as we did last night and instead of growing, Jordan’s leg has shrunk by .7cm….we chose to freak out….get excited and praise God!  Feel free to do a little dance now with us.  Will write more about the weekend later… we’re tired and heading to bed.

Please praise God for this shrinkage and continue to press in for a miracle. Thanks!!

Thank you to all of you for being so faithful in standing beside these dear people who are in need of your prayers. My heart is overwhelmed with the dedication you all have. Our God is mighty and there is none like Him.

Job 26:5-14 NIV

“The dead are in deep anguish,
    those beneath the waters and all that live in them.
Death is naked before God;
    Destruction lies uncovered.
He spreads out the northern skies over empty space;
    he suspends the earth over nothing.
He wraps up the waters in his clouds,
    yet the clouds do not burst under their weight.
He covers the face of the full moon,
    spreading his clouds over it.
He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters
    for a boundary between light and darkness.
The pillars of the heavens quake,
    aghast at his rebuke.
By his power he churned up the sea;
    by his wisdom he cut Rahab to pieces.
By his breath the skies became fair;
    his hand pierced the gliding serpent.
And these are but the outer fringe of his works;
    how faint the whisper we hear of him!
    Who then can understand the thunder of his power?”

Sunshine Project

Ecclesiastes 11:7 NIV
Light is sweet,
    and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.

Today I am linking up with Summer for the Sunshine Project and the object is to post something that makes you smile. Well, my garden makes me smile. You see last year I was just too sore and stiff to plant a garden and this year well I dug, planted lifted and placed lots of the rocks you see here. :) I am in remission from RA and so very pleased!! My kids and husband helped a lot in the garden as well so this just totally makes my heart sing.

Spinach
 The only part of the garden that is taking off is the spinach and the sunflowers.

Slow growing :s
The weeds have taken over the rock wall and the tomatoes froze but that's okay as things are growing, slowly but surly. We have had a super cold spring with the most rain ever recorded and I have had the fireplace on almost every day so far.

Berries
Here are some of the berries planted. There are raspberries, blackberries, currents, blueberries, strawberries and another two that I am not really sure what they are. :)

How about grabbing the button and joining in. Visit Summer at Summer's Story to get the button and link up.

Matthew 5:43-45 NIV
 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."

News & Updates

Quinn
Quinn
Marc, Quinn's dad will be running in a half marathon in order to raise awareness for EB, Epidermolysis Bullosa, in Akron, Ohio. If you live in this area and you are a runner why not train for and run this half marathon and join the other Butterfly Army and raise awareness for EB. Maybe you are not a runner but would like to contribute, why don't you advertise this event on your blog and see if there are any others out there that would like to be a part of this. If you are interested in racing, please visit Quinn's blog and leave a comment letting Marc know. You need to sign up with your email address in order to access her site. Thanks!!
Below is taken from Quinn's CarringBride Site.

One last thing that I just didn't think to ask. I mentioned my own efforts to run the Akron Half Marathon September 29, 2012. And then one of my best friends asked if he could train and run it with me and later he said his brother-in-law was going to join us too. And it got me thinking....why not have a whole swarm of butterfly army members all run it together??? How cool would it be to have a whole swarm of purple shirts. Can you imagine the buzz we could create for EB with everyone wondering what all the shirts are about!!!!!!! If you want to be in, start running now, the more people the better.

Ian
Ian
Just had some scans this past Thursday and I found out last night they were clear!! Praise God!! His mom, Alison, was concerned because if these scans came back showing new cancer then there would be no more treatment for Ian. Please continue to cover Ian in prayer as he will be having another set of scans in 3 mths. Please continue to pray for NED! No evidence of disease.

Lucy
Just had scans last Thursday as well and they came back clear!! Praise God!! NED!! Continue to pray for her as well!!

Summer
Summer WOOT!!! Praise GOD!! This medicine combination is WORKING!! Her muscles are getting stronger. Please continue to join me in prayer for remission.

God is so good!

Psalm 43:4-5 NIV

Then I will go to the altar of God,
To God my exceeding joy;
And upon the lyre I shall praise You, O God, my God.

Why are you in despair, O my soul?
And why are you disturbed within me?
Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.

Thank you for praying and rejoicing with me.
Blessings,

Another Miracle!!

Ansley
Ansley had her Pet scans this morning and they came back, NED!! No Evidence of Disease!! Praise our awesome GOD!

Thank you Jesus!!

Below is directly from Ansley's blog, Praying for Ansley...

We just got the news that Ansley's PET/CT scans this morning were totally clear - no signs of cancer! We have taken lots of pictures this year, but those may be the most beautiful ones that Amy and I have seen in a while! We are so thankful to everyone at MUSC for such wonderful care, and we give thanks to God for this wonderful news! They will be done with her bone marrow biopsy soon and the final results of that will take a few days. But for now, everything looks beautiful! Thanks for praying!

Also, as we receive this news, we know that there are families right now where we were at a year ago this time. Please pray for them as they begin a long journey.

What a wonderful Christmas gift this is! Two miracles in one week.

Please press in with me for Summer and Wayne. Summer is so ill right now and just waiting to have her medicine but there is such a hassle with the nursing care that should be coming to her home to minister the medicine. The whole ordeal is a mess and Summer really needs our prayers.

Wayne is to have pre-op tests on December 23, pray the cancer is gone and surgery does not need to be done.

Jesus, You are the best and I thank you for healing sweet Ansley. Praise Your Name always and always. Lord God, please touch Summer and Wayne. Remove this illness that is afflicting them and heal them just like you have healed Ansley and Katie. You are God. You are Healer. You, we bow down and and ask for these illnesses to bow down to Your Mighty Name. In the Name of Jesus Christ I ask and pray. Amen.

Psalm 35:27-28 NIV
May those who delight in my vindication
   shout for joy and gladness;
may they always say, “The LORD be exalted,
   who delights in the well-being of his servant.”
My tongue will proclaim your righteousness,
   your praises all day long.

Psalm 48:9-10 NIV
Within your temple, O God,
   we meditate on your unfailing love.
Like your name, O God,
   your praise reaches to the ends of the earth;
   your right hand is filled with righteousness.

More Praises

Summer has some very good news! This latest medicine seems to be working! Here is a list, taken right from Summer's blog, of the improvements.

Summer
Differences we are noticing:

1. I can walk down the steps a little longer without getting out of breathe.

2. I am able to get up  better from a sitting position. I still need a bit of help but not as much.

3. We were out to eat and the hubs noticed I can hold on to things a bit longer without dropping them.

4. Little Miss Kelcee has noticed my legs are getting a bit stronger. She said “mommy the medicine it’s working!! It’s working!!” She is the sweetest ever...now she thinks she is my personal trainer and the past few days she says mommy do this, mommy can you do this? It’s really cute!

5. I am not as in as much PAIN as I have been!! This is a biggie...I am not in as much PAIN! I am so excited about this one!

I know I still have a loooong way to go BUT these are changes we are already noticing....and although they may seem small to people who don’t know our story they are BIG BIG DIFFERENCES to us and that we thank GOD for so very much!! I know it is still early to tell what this medicine is going to do BUT I have very hi9gh hopes that this poison is my Remedy...and for that I am smiling so BIG!!

I am so happy for you Summer!! Pretty soon you will be running just like the girl in the picture! Always praying and praying for you girl, you have this one. :)

1 Chronicles 16:33-35 NIV
Let the trees of the forest sing,
   let them sing for joy before the LORD,
   for he comes to judge the earth.
 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
   his love endures forever.
Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior;
   gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
   and glory in your praise.”

Father,
Thank you for having this medicine work on Summer. Please heal her the whole way. Allow her muscles to be strong so she can run with Kelcee and make it to the top of that hill she so wants to climb. Allow her to be able to crawl with Kelcee and walk and be pain free. You are so good but this has been a very rough road she has been on and it so so nice to see the end is in sight.
Thank you, more please! In the name of Jesus, amen.

One More Prayer Request

Google Image
Summer, my sweet blogger friend is heading into the the hospital today and might have to stay. :( Please pray for her that she doesn't have to stay in the hospital and her doctors will know how to treat her. This disease is running wild and needs to get under control.

Her appointment is 2pm, eastern standard time. So if you remember please pray for Summer.

Thank you!!

1 Timothy 2:1-3 NIV

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior,

Praying and praying,

God Opens Shut Doors

Google Image
Below is an email that I received today, a devotional taken from David Wilkerson Today. I pondered whether or not to post this and decided after hearing Summer's news that this would be very fitting. Please keep praying for Summer as she didn't receive the best news from her doctor today. This disease is running out of control in her body and the doctors are looking at giving her another chemo infusion soon. Please pray for a miracle.

David Wilkerson Today

FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2011

WE THANK GOD FOR HIS MANIFOLD MERCIES AND LOVING KINDNESS

I am led by the Holy Spirit to write to you about God opening shut doors. Someone reading this message will relate immediately to this, because you face one or more closed doors. There it is, right in your face, a door that seems to be continually locked. It could be a serious financial situation, and you’ve prayed for the door of some opportunity to open. Yet everything you try seems to fail; the doors simply don’t open.

I don’t know what your closed door may be, but for many it seems both the windows and doors of heaven are closed. The heavens seem as brass, and you can’t seem to get through. This closed door I am speaking about is some issue, some situation, some need you’ve been praying much about. It may be a God’s Word. They did not accuse the Lord of neglecting them or turning a crisis that requires nothing less than a miracle. And you haven’t yet received an answer to your fervent prayers and petitions to the Lord.

In Revelation, Christ refers to himself as HE THAT OPENS AND SHUTS DOORS (3:7). This was in a letter sent to the believers in ancient Philadelphia, a church  the Lord complimented for having kept the word of his patience and never denying his name. Simply put, in their most trying times, these people stood faithfully on deaf ear to their cries.

Evidently, Satan had come against them with lies. His principalities and  powers of darkness, lying spirits pouring out of the very bowels of hell, say that God has shut every door, that he isn’t worthy of worship and faith. But these believers, whom Jesus said were of little strength, kept on trusting, waiting patiently for God to put the key in the door and open it. He holds the key to every shut door – and he alone sets before us open doors.

Here is what the Lord promised them, and it is our promise as well:

“Because you have kept the word of my patience [you did not give up in your trial], I also will keep you from the hour of temptation which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth” (3:10). Revelation 3:10

This hour of temptation is even now upon us. It holds incredible tests of  faith so great and so fiery that many will fall into deadly unbelief. Indeed, a great falling away from enduring faith is now upon the whole world.

But you – because you still trust his promises, and are willing to die in faith even if you do not see the promises fulfilled – you will be kept from this worldwide temptation to fall into unbelief. God has heard your cry, and he knows the timing, the very hour, to open all doors. So, never give up. Never doubt. Stand on his promises. He will not fail you.

 Song of Solomon 1:2-3, 9-11

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth—
   for your love is more delightful than wine.
 Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes;
   your name is like perfume poured out.

 Your cheeks are beautiful with earrings,

1 Chronicles 28:9 NIV ...for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.
