Sunshine Project

Ecclesiastes 11:7 NIV
Light is sweet,
and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.

Today I am linking up with Summer for the Sunshine Project and the object is to post something that makes you smile. Well, my garden makes me smile. You see last year I was just too sore and stiff to plant a garden and this year well I dug, planted lifted and placed lots of the rocks you see here. :) I am in remission from RA and so very pleased!! My kids and husband helped a lot in the garden as well so this just totally makes my heart sing.

Spinach
The only part of the garden that is taking off is the spinach and the sunflowers.

Slow growing :s
The weeds have taken over the rock wall and the tomatoes froze but that's okay as things are growing, slowly but surly. We have had a super cold spring with the most rain ever recorded and I have had the fireplace on almost every day so far.

Berries
Here are some of the berries planted. There are raspberries, blackberries, currents, blueberries, strawberries and another two that I am not really sure what they are. :)

How about grabbing the button and joining in. Visit Summer at Summer's Story to get the button and link up.

Matthew 5:43-45 NIV
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."

God Bless,

  1. Dear Child of God,

You know, you are just a little bit naughty. If I had known you were suffering from the Rheumatoid Arthritis I would have included this in my prayers for you. But I love you and forgive you :) I am so unbelievably excited for you that you're in remission. Praising Jesus! He's the best! Happy dancing with you :)

Your garden look fabulous, and I can see the work that has gone into it since you first shared the beginnings of this project. You and your family have done so well. Spending time in the garden is wonderful, and even better to be doing this as a family.

I love the little berry trees, so many wonderful berries.

I seriously can't stop smiling. Your news has filled my heart with overflowing joy.

I love the sound of Summer's Sunshine Project, and I'd love to join in on this. Well this has certainly made my day and given me plenty to smile about.

God bless you and your family.

    Love, Kerrie xoxo

    1. Hi Kerrie,
I have mentioned it a few times in some of my first posts but I don't want to dwell on it. Thanks for forgiving me for not telling you. :) I have been in remission for 2 years now but as time goes on I just get better and better. Last year I could never lift those rocks but this year I have been going pretty crazy with lifting and pulling weeds. God is good!

I am so excited to have a berry patch since the kids and I love fruit smoothies for breakfast.

I am glad you are going to link up with Summer. I can hardly wait to see what you post. :)

      Blessings hon,

    1. Hi Summer,
I love this new link up, it sure will be fun.

Planting the garden was fun but a lot of work...but I can do it this year! It was really sad for the tomatoes as the 2nd night after I planted them it dropped to 0 C which is 32 F. But it does look like some of them survived.

      Yes, this is sunshine!

      Blessings hon,

  3. That scripture crossed my mind today, Hmmm...better pay attention, God is talking to me here.

Love the good news about your remission, i was surprised since i too didn't know you had RA. My hubby has it so I know how serious it can be! But God is more serious about our victory over this stuff!! I can't wait to tell my hubby about this as he is hopeful about starting a new medicine that his doc feels could put him into remission also. God is so great, and your garden looks sweet :) i know how hard it is to work with gardening in the northern climate...although you are much further north than we are. ~God Bless~

    1. Hi Lisa,
It's neat when we get confirmation about Scripture. :)

I have been afflicted with RA for 6 1/2 years now, the first bit was really rough, but with prayer, meds and a diet change I am doing well. God is healing me.

I hope these new medicines will help your husband. There is nothing quite as bad as painful joints.

Yes you sure would know about the shorter northern growing seasons. :) It's good though, so no complaining here just enjoying.

      Blessings,

  4. We have 12 tomato plants in 3 gallon pots. We planted them in early April and are eating tomato sandwitches now. You have a good looking garden.

    1. Hi JT,
You are already eating tomatoes!! Yum! I just love home grown tomatoes, such a fantastic taste to them. I really am hoping these tomatoes produce before the fall time.

Thanks for your compliment on the garden I really enjoy the work.

    1. Hi Annmarie,
RA is not a fun deal at all. It totally stinks having your joints feel like they are on fire and being pulled out from your sockets. I feel so sad for your aunts.

As for the garden I might just need to put up fences as we have a bear that loves to come and eat the apples off of the apple trees, which are right near the garden. Right now, though, we seem to be okay as we have 5 dogs that tend to keep the deer, coyotes, mice, moles and other veggie eating animals away...like rabbits.

      Blessings,
