Feed MY People

 Isaiah 58 NLT
1 “Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast.
      Shout aloud! Don’t be timid.
Tell my people Israel of their sins!
2 Yet they act so pious!
They come to the Temple every day
and seem delighted to learn all about me.
They act like a righteous nation
that would never abandon the laws of its God.
They ask me to take action on their behalf,
pretending they want to be near me.

3 ‘We have fasted before you!’ they say.
      ‘Why aren’t you impressed?
We have been very hard on ourselves,
and you don’t even notice it!’
“I will tell you why!” I respond.
“It’s because you are fasting to please yourselves.
   Even while you fast,
      you keep oppressing your workers.

4 What good is fasting
when you keep on fighting and quarreling?
   This kind of fasting
will never get you anywhere with me.
 5 You humble yourselves
by going through the motions of penance,
   bowing your heads
like reeds bending in the wind.
   You dress in burlap
      and cover yourselves with ashes.
Is this what you call fasting?
Do you really think this will please the Lord?

6 “No, this is the kind of fasting I want:
   Free those who are wrongly imprisoned;
lighten the burden of those who work for you.
   Let the oppressed go free,
and remove the chains that bind people.

7 Share your food with the hungry,
and give shelter to the homeless.
Give clothes to those who need them,
and do not hide from relatives who need your help.

8 “Then your salvation will come like the dawn,
and your wounds will quickly heal.
Your godliness will lead you forward,
and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.
9 Then when you call, the Lord will answer.

‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.
“Remove the heavy yoke of oppression.
Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors!

10 Feed the hungry,
      and help those in trouble.
Then your light will shine out from the darkness,
and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.
11 The Lord will guide you continually,
giving you water when you are dry
      and restoring your strength.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
      like an ever-flowing spring.

12 Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities.
Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls
      and a restorer of homes.
13 “Keep the Sabbath day holy.
Don’t pursue your own interests on that day,
   but enjoy the Sabbath
and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day.

Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day,
and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly.
14 Then the Lord will be your delight.
I will give you great honor
and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob.
      I, the Lord, have spoken!”

Blessings,

  1. I always remember reading. An acceptable fast to the Lord is ...your number 7 and 10. We cannot fast without sharing and giving. How can anyone not? Much love Crystal

  2. Hi Crystal Mary,
Yes, how can one fast and be greedy. God sure would love us to give till we have nothing rather than give up food for a time and horde so we can stuff our faces later.

    Blessings,

  3. Good Morning, sweet Child of God,
Great post on this one, dear!!
Yes!! I am listening to God's words of widsom.
You see, I have been thinking in writing something similar to this topic. It must have been a coincidence of thoughts. You and I have been thinking in the same things, but you posted it before me. I usually take my time to post my writings, since my available time is limited.
Thank you again and again, Child of God, for sharing your wisdom with the world!! You are an awesome super Christian friend.
Blessings from the Lord all over you and those you love.
    Love in Christ,
    Poet Starry Dawn.

  4. Hi Starry Dawn,
Must be the prompting of the Holy Spirit if you too are going to write a post on this. :)

Blessings and have a great day,

  5. These pictures make me SO sad :( We hold out $10 of our grocery money every week and buy food that we can get at good prices and take to our local food pantry. But it seems like no matter how much food everybody drops off, there is still more needed.

  6. Beautiful! I am grateful for you my dear sister for your words of wisdom and in the way of delivery. Our Heavenly Father's wisdom is certainly shining through these past few posts. Thank you for your submissiveness to Him and the ability in which you wrote these.

I have been led to fast as I enter into a new season of my life and a transition of a new and wide territory for His ministry. Its some what scary but at the same time very exciting as He is REALLY working gloriously in my life and through me. I am so very blessed to have developed such friendships, ones that I know a God appointed. Please keep me in your prayers to be able to move for His glory.

    Hugs and Blessings :)

  7. Hi Katie,
$10.00 sure can go far when feeding the homeless, but there are just so many homeless, it makes my heart break too.

    Hi IwP,
When you put pictures to Scripture, it can really bring out the point and make it real. For me, I just think it is great when the Holy Spirit speaks to me and gives me something to post. When the words flow it is like honey soothing a sore throat.

Cool that you are venturing into a new ministry! I will be keeping you in my prayers. I hope, in time, you will be able to share what this ministry is.

    Blessings,

  8. It is sad looking at the faces of the people in some of these photos. Amen, feed His people, both with His food and His Word.
    Blessings,
    Ken

  9. Hi Ken,
I agree with you on feeding His people with His word. Every single Christian can do this by freely talking about Jesus and the Gospel or a Bible verse for the situation they are in. Kind of challenges us to know the Bible well. :)

    Blessings,

  10. So many people living in dire circumstances and yet the greedy keep on getting greedier, which is equally sad.

The day will come when the hungry will no longer be hungry and the greedy... well God tells us what will become of them.

  11. Hi Kerrie,
It is so sad. Here in Canada when a grocery stores' fresh food reaches a certain date they throw it out into the dumpster, they are not allowed to give it away to the poor and you get fined if you are found rummaging through their garbage. This food is not spoiled but I guess it is getting near the due date so it is chucked. It breaks my heart knowing there are people starving yet cannot get this food.

    Come Lord Jesus, come!!
