Do You Have the Courage?

"Giving His Spirit" SpiritFire for 06/25/2014

Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by your observing the law, or by your believing what you heard? — Galatians 3:5

Key Thought

God's Spirit is given and God's power is displayed in those who believe. We don't make the Spirit come to us — the Spirit is God's gift to followers of Jesus. We cannot make God's power happen in our lives — this power is released through the work of the Holy Spirit in those who believe. So what is the bottom line? Do we believe or do we try to force God to act by adhering to a set of laws or do we believe in Jesus and trust God will supply what we need?

Today's Prayer

O Father, move among us by the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe in Jesus and his power to save, redeem, and transform. So we ask for you to move with power among us! In Jesus' name. Amen.

The above is a daily devotional from Heartlight

We cannot force Holy Spirit to work in us or others we need to step out in faith and just believe.  When we do this act of obedience then we will see the mighty hand of God move and miracles happen. Studying, seeking wisdom through worldly means will enable our minds to know a lot of things but it takes real courage to step out and take the chance to look like a fool to those who belong to the world and trust what Scripture says.

Jesus is a real man of courage. He was not afraid to go against the world and the common way of doing things. He stood in the face of utter humiliation and said,“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”  Luke 23:34

Recently I watched the movie 'The Cross and the Switchblade'. I have attached the movie here and I encourage you to listen to 1:31 - 1:41 where David Wilkerson talks about having the guts to be different from the world and choose to love instead of hate.

Holy Spirit is calling all people and offering a relationship with Jesus, the only way to Father. Are you listening? Are you a real man or a real woman? Only the brave ones who are not afraid to step outside of the group will find the way to eternal salvation and true, pure happiness.

It Really Is Grace

"Doing What God Wants?" — WJD! for 02/20/2014

"Every person that does evil hates the light. That person will not come to the light. Why? Because then the light will show all the bad things he has done. But the person that follows the true way comes to the light. Then the light will show that the things that person has done were done through God." — John 3:20-21 (ERV)

Key Thought:

A life dedicated to God comes to his Light. A person living this kind of life doesn't fear judgment or rejection or truth. Falsehood, dishonesty, sinfulness, greed... all can be addressed through the lens of grace when those seeking righteousness come to the light. So the question you and I face each day is very simple: Do I gladly come to the Light to let God show me his grace in ways that allow me to see my sinfulness, shallowness, and selfishness and be transformed? My desire to open my life to the Light of God's truth and holiness reveals my desire to do what is right. My reluctance reveals how the power of sin has begun to edge its way into my life and my heart.

Today's Prayer:

Almighty Father, God of holiness and grace, search me and try me and convict me of my sin. I want to be holy and blameless, not just by your gift of grace, but also through the sanctifying power of your Spirit at work to transform me to be more like Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.

SIN

We are sinful people and these days nobody wants to acknowledge it. Everyone wants to think they are good and because of this all people will go to heaven or at least end up not existing anymore. That is a pleasant thought but, unfortunately, it is not true. How do you prove it? You can't. There needs to be a fear of the unknown and that fear should push us towards God in hope that He does exist and there is a heaven and that the only way into heaven is through the acknowledging of the fact that we are sinful and in need of a Savior.

The path to salvation is very simple and easy but it is very, very narrow allowing only for salvation through Jesus Christ. Do we need to change ourselves before seeking this path? No, we just need to acknowledge our sinfulness and seek God. It is impossible for us to change ourselves but we can understand that we are sinful and that we need to repent and make amends for the wrong we have done. Jesus will change us. We come to Him just as we are with all of our doubt, repent for our wrong doing, accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior over our lives and Jesus will make us like Him. When we do this and fully seek Jesus we will change and understand the mystery of Scripture.

Need Jesus? Check out my Have Jesus page. There is an explanation of salvation and a what you need to do section. You don't need to carry on in hurt and pain for there is a way to peace. The only peace that comes through the Living God, Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 3:10-12 ESV
For
“Whoever desires to love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit;
let him turn away from evil and do good;
let him seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

Need to talk about it? Email me I would be happy to help you understand.

Making Intercession

I encourage you my brothers and sister in Christ Jesus to pray all kinds of prayer to Father. We have the promise of the Holy Spirit to intercede for us as we pray, taking our prayers and bringing to Father what we cannot say.

Below is one of my morning devotionals from My Utmost For His Highest that really encouraged me. You can check out the devotional by clicking on the link.

We know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26

We realize that we are energized by the Holy Spirit for prayer; we know what it is to pray in the Spirit; but we do not so often realize that the Holy Spirit Himself prays in us prayers which we cannot utter. When we are born again of God and are indwelt by the Spirit of God, He expresses for us the unutterable.

"He," the Spirit in you, "maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God," and God searches your heart not to know what your conscious prayers are, but to find out what is the prayer of the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit of God needs the nature of the believer as a shrine in which to offer His intercession. "Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost." When Jesus Christ cleansed the temple, He "would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple." The Spirit of God will not allow you to use your body for your own convenience. Jesus ruthlessly cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and said - "My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves."

Have we recognized that our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost? If so, we must be careful to keep it undefiled for Him. We have to remember that our conscious life, though it is only a tiny bit of our personality, is to be regarded by us as a shrine of the Holy Ghost. He will look atter the unconscious part that we know nothing of; but we must see that we guard the conscious part for which we are responsible.
