Update Phoebe & Amy

Here is an update on how Phoebe is doing:

She seems to be tolerating the radiation so far with minimal side effects. She sleeps more than usual. She is often irritable which makes it difficult to take her out without a scene, so for now we are sticking pretty close to home if not in Dallas for radiation. Thank you all for thinking of us and praying for Phoebe. Everyone has been wonderful to our family, and we feel blessed to feel so loved.

Here are the scan results for Amy:

Ok So the official MRI results are the tumor has shrunk a little bit but the cyst around it has grown a little bit. So for now we stay on this chemo regimine and scan again after the next two phases of chemo. So our next scan will be around november 7th or so. The doctor said hed rather the cyst get bigger and the tumor get smaller than the other way around. He also said that cyst may become a problem in the future but for right now we continue on this path and try to kill off that tumor some more.

Thank you for your faithful prayers!

Proverbs 3:3 ESV
Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.

Blessings,

Prayer for Amy

Here is a prayer request from Amy's mom Etta:...

Just wanted to ask everyone for prayers for Amys upcoming MRI on Mon the 19th. I have alot of "scanxiety" going on and it would make me feel better knowing there are alot of people praying for good scans. It is routine every so often to scan during treatment and there are no signs of anything getting worse but I know this beast and how quickly things can change so please just say some prayers.
Amy and Scotty are at Ronald Mcdonald camp until tomorrow. I cant wait to hug them. I have really missed them alot....yes even their fighting lol. Have to get up super early but im pretty sure i will be chipper about it beacuse i know i will get to see them.  :)
Scottys birthday is on Aug 25th and Im trying to get people to send cards and such for his birthday so if you wanna help out please let me know. Poor kid is always in the shadows of his older sister. Not only because of her tumor but because of the whole singing thing too. We try really hard not to but sometimes he gets overlooked anyways. So im trying really hard to get him flooded with cards and small gifts to make him feel like for once HE is in the spotlight. Thank for the help.

James 5:14 NIV
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.

Thank you for your prayers!!

Success!!

Thank you all for your prayers. Amy's surgery was a success!! Here is what Etta wrote on her Facebook page this morning.

Good morning everyone, I am sure you all know by now that Amy's surgery was a SUCCESS!!! She is alert and awake and she said she feels good. 80% of "Stanley" is gone, the other 20% was too risky to take out, too close to the nerves that control breathing and swallowing. But she is going to be in the hospital for 3 days and will then come home!!! THANK YOU JESUS & THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!

There is only a small bit of the tumor left, please pray that Father will remove this completely and that Amy will be cancer free.

Psalm 86:5 NLT
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.

Stanley Go Take A Hike!

Amy will be having her second brain surgery tomorrow, Wednesday January 30 2013, where the surgeons will be removing 'Stanley' the name Amy gave this tumor. Please be in prayer for her. Amy is very nervous and feeling a bit ill over the whole thing.

A really cool thing happened to Amy. You see she loves to sing and the one to inspire her is Taylor Swift. So someone told Amy's mom, Etta, to start a Facebook page in order to get Taylor's attention. Well, Taylor hasn't yet made it a point to go see Amy but something else really neat did. Amy got a recording contract with Rotation Records and it will be published on Itunes. Amy wrote a song about her stay at Ronald McDonald Camp and this is the song she recorded. The recording company made a huge deal of this starting with being catered by a limo from 5 am until late at night. She had an MRI first thing in the morning then a party with gifts then on to recording. In the evening there was another party. Amy was totally spoiled. :) What an amazing thing for this recording company to do. You can read Etta's account of the day here

If you are interested in helping Amy meet Taylor Swift, please like her Facebook page Help Amy Meet Taylor Swift.

Wayne, Sam, Emily, Amy & Scarlett

Here is an update from Chelle about Wayne:

December 13th we were in for a one month checkup with the medical oncologist, Wayne mentioned about his back hurting so bad.  She immediately ordered an MRI that was done just over an hour later.  About 2 hours later the radiology oncologist telephoned to say the
cancer has spread into the spine.  We met with her the next morning to discuss plans to have 10 radiation treatments to help relieve the pain.  Just in the last few days the pain has gone into his right leg making it difficult to walk.  He will have a full body CT scan tomorrow and get the results on Monday the 24th.
Though we are surprised by all of this....GOD is not!  No matter what, we know GOD is in control and our faith and trust in HIM does not waver.
We know it has been your prayers going up to the LORD that has sustained us as we continue by faith to believe for Wayne's complete healing and for GOD to be glorified!!

Please continue to pray for Wayne and these scan results, thanks!!

Sam:

Scans are STABLE!! I know Cassie was hoping and praying for clear but stable is good!! Thank You Father!!

Below, taken directly from Emily's blog: Emily had scans this week and they have come back showing new growth. :(

I can't remember what we were saying but I think it had something to do with the platelets and Dr. Sholler was standing there, and said "Well there is progression."  WHAT? WTF you have to be kidding me?  Im sorry you said what?  She indicated she has some more spots in her spine and some on her head.  Im sorry I can't be technical here and tell you were because this honestly wasn't the news we were expecting to hear.  We didn't want to look at the scans, and didn't even look at the report, because once again like 2 years ago everything seemed blurry again.  Tears began to flow and everything around us just seemed to stop.

Emily has true progression these are spots that she has never had before.  I know that Dr. Sholler said they are only in the bone, so no soft tissue just cortical bone. She has been taken off the CH14.18 trial so no more inpatient at this time and all medicines such as GM-CSF and accutane have been stopped. Its not working because the disease is spreading. IT'S NOT WORKING DAMN IT.  We really thought the damn antibodies would clear us, what happened.  How?  Why?

Today Emily is having a bone marrow test, please keep praying for her and seeking no cancer. Pray for the family as this has been 2 years of torture and to hear this news when they had such good hopes that all was well, well that just totally stinks. Thanks!

Amy:

Having brain surgery January 17 2013. Pray the surgeon removes all traces of cancer growth and Amy comes through this surgery without any issues at all. Thanks  So the doctor changed the surgery date to Jan 30th and set up our pre admission meeting for a week before on Jan 23rd. Im in the process of getting the MRI for that day also. I hope they can give me that day.

Scarlett:

Having surgery #14! Today, a port is placed in, pray for success and quick recovery. Chemo starts 2nd week of January.

Pathology results are not back yet but the doctors have good hope that the cells that are there were changed from the previous cancer.
Below taken from Scarlett's blog....

The doctors are expecting to see somewhat good news from this pathology - that the tumor cells have been altered in a way that makes it much less destructive, and easier to control.  Less likely would be an equally aggressive tumor as the original, which would be much more difficult to manage.  Worst case scenario, which no one expects based on the behavior we have seen over the last few months' MRI, would be the pathology shows this to be an even more aggressive version that would be nearly impossible to eradicate; treatment would be of little or no use.

Pray there will be good outcomes for treatment. Thanks!!

Ephesians 3:14-19 NASB
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
that He would grant you,
according to the riches of His glory,
to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;
and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints
what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge,
that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Rejoicing and praying,

Update on Amy

Here is an update for Amy taken directly from her CarringBridge page.

I got a call from Dr Fisher the oncologist last night. I wish I can say we got all positive news but its only cross our fingers and pray kinda news. Radiation is not possible. Chemo alone wont cure this, brain surgery alone wont cure this. Brain surgery and chemo together is our best shot. He believes they can get a biopsy and find out what kind of tumor this is (they think it is a low grade glioma but there is a chance since it is a reoccurrance that it can upgrade to a high grade glioma and for that there would be little chance of a cure, So pray for low grade please.) the biopsy will help them determine what chemo treatment to use. We have a 10.00 am meeting with the neuro surgeon Dr. Storm on Tue dec 18 th Amys birthday. (i just told her last night that i would make it after her birthday but he only sees people on tuesdays-sometimes i feel that its like the world is out to get me. oh well its just a consult and she will have the party that night to lift her spirits again after hearing all the scary stuff about surgery)  Well thats all i can give you for now.

If anyone has any ideas how i can make scotty feel less overlooked please let me know. Im trying really hard but I am also concentrating on keeping everyone updated and doing little things around the house that need to be done and of course concentrating on how to keep my little girl alive. Shes getting cards and stuff and he jealous because hes not getting anything. Although I do have him signed up to get stuff it just takes time. If someone would like to write him a little card every now and then email me and ill give you our address. He told me yesterday he feels like we love amy more than him. I tried to explain we are just trying to help her survive. But hes little and doesnt understand. I hope talking to a therapist will help. I love them both so much but its really hard right now not to be concentrating solely on amys tumor and what is going on. So please if you have any ideas speak up and if its constructive critisism ill try not to hold it against you I will do anything to help my babies through this rotten unfair horribly scary situation.

God Bless you all and thank you so much for the prayers I can feel the love. And I know he hears us and he will take care of us.

Friends, you know we serve a mighty big God so will you join me in asking big? I'm praying for the biopsy to come back clean, no evidence of cancer. Also will you pray for Scotty, Amy's brother. He is feeling unloved and not special. If you have any ideas on how to make him feel loved, please send a message to Etta. You can send a friend request to her Facebook page here.

Matthew 4:23-24 NASB
Jesus was going throughout all Galilee,
teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom,
and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.
The news about Him spread throughout all Syria;
and they brought to Him all who were ill,
those suffering with various diseases and pains,
demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them.

Amy Lynne Hosmer

Meet Amy!
On September 21 2004 Amy was given the devastating news of a brain tumor that at first look thought to be untreatable but then at the second look was decided that just maybe radiation would work. She had about 7 weeks of radiation treatment with the tumor shrinking 80% and as time went on it continued to shrink. After 3 years the tumor was stable and Amy has been about 8 years in remission, until December 6 2012 when Amy had a routine check and the doctor noticed a cyst growing on the small tumor.

Amy and her family are devastated by this news. Here is a post from Amy herself. Please consider stopping by her CaringBridge site and give her some encouragement and love. Thanks!
