Spirit Overcoming Flesh

Google Image

More wood. Make it hotter, yet even hotter still. No, Lord! What are you doing?? I don’t get it. I thought we went through this whole process of banging me senseless. Why are You doing this again for the umpteenth time? What’s going on? Am I not sharp enough yet?

God is choosing to sharpen me again. Just when I thought I am sharp, He has decided that I am not yet sharp enough. The process of being on His anvil never gets easy, it always hurts and this time is no different  than the others except I am quicker to relent ‘self’ and allow Him to continue His work in me instead of resisting what I know will eventually happen. Red hot me being hammered into a finer, sharper, purer blade for His use.

Isaiah 54:16-17 NIV
“See, it is I who created the blacksmith
   who fans the coals into flame
   and forges a weapon fit for its work.
And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc;
 no weapon forged against you will prevail,
   and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
   and this is their vindication from me,”
            declares the LORD.

Zechariah 13:9 NIV
This third I will put into the fire;
   I will refine them like silver
   and test them like gold.
They will call on my name
   and I will answer them;
I will say, ‘They are my people,’
   and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’”

Spirit overcoming flesh

I am yours Lord. Please do not tarry in Your work but be quick about it for it is extremely painful for me. In You I trust only.

  1. It can be so difficult going through the fire...being molded and being patient. I have had several hard hits lately and been tried..
    The last time when this happened, and my spirits were very low, I was given a scripture to look up. It told me to be patient, that God was in control. I didn't react as I felt like doing, but did leave it to God.He worked it out better than I ever could have.. So, we need to live close to Him and trust and obey..God bless you. With much love Crystal xx

  2. Hi Crystal Mary,
    I remember reading your post of speaking in tongues then being hit and our mighty God coming in and making it right. :) He is a great God in all times.

    I don't like being here but I do know when He is finished the results will be fabulous.

    Thanks for stopping by and giving me words of wisdom.

  3. Hi Child of God,
    Going through the fire sure is tough, but the results on the other end is awesome. We must go through it with Him, trusting in Him. I will pray for you.
    Blessings,
    Ken

  5. Hi Ken,
    Thanks for praying. :) Going through the fire unbelievably hurts but having gone through it so many times I am excited to see what God will do with me, what will be the outcome from the impurities He is banging out.

    Hi Ma,
    Yes our God is a Consuming Fire!! The more I dive into Him the more He consumes me.

    Thanks for stopping by with encouraging words.

  6. For the one who comes after me will anoint you with the holy spirit and with fire. The spirit is likened to water, you can put the fire out with it you know. not in rebellion though, in trust.
    Bless you child of God, Geoff.

  7. Hi Geoff,
    I am not sure I want to put the fire of the Holy Spirit out. It hurts, but I know God's way is better than mine and if He is seeing fit to yet crush another part of me and remove the impurities that are there, then who am I to say.

    I trust God fully, but still, that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.

    Thanks for your advice. :) I will trust God more in hopes that the process will speed up.

    Blessings,

  8. Hi Child of God,

    Oh, how I can relate! But you said something that's SPOT ON...

    "relent ‘self’ and allow Him to continue His work"

    God wants to be the most important resource in our lives, but oh how removing the dross is painful! But we're learning so much faster how to die to ourselves. Good post :) Blessings!

  9. Hi Lori,

    I sure do know that you can relate to this one. :)

    In the past I struggled with keeping what defined me and fought with God over it. But now as I dive deeper into Him I realize that He has something so much better for me and I want Him to make me into this person He created me to be, you know without all the baggage from life hanging on.

    It sure is painful, though. I am with you sister, I sure am with you.

    Thanks for stopping by,
