L.O.V.E. Challenge Day 3-- Favourite 'Love' Movie

The Passion
John 15:12-14 NIV
My command is this: Love each other
as I have loved you. Greater
love has no one than this: to
lay down one's life for one's friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command

My favourite movie is 'The Passion' and I believe this is the best love story ever told. Why would the Creator of the universe send His one and only Son to this earth to die for us sinful people? We didn't even love Him and chose not to obey His commands. His love for us blows me away and sometimes I just cannot wrap my mind around it. Agape love is the love of the Father, a love that I would like to claim and say I too have this love for His people. A deep, true love shown even when your neighbour, friend, sibling, child or spouse does nothing but hurt you and we, out of agape love return goodness for evil just like the Master Creator does. That, my friends, is what will win souls for Jesus; agape love.

Romans 5:6-8 NIV

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

  2. Hi Summer,
Yes, this is such a powerful movie and I too cried. Watching the sacrifice of Jesus coming to life before my very eyes made me really appreciate what He did for us.

This is fun Summer, I am glad you thought of this.

    Blessings,

  3. This is a good choice for the LOVE challenge! I saw this movie with hubby and we both bawled through it...and my hubby rarely cries! This movie is what I call one of my "one shot deals"...movies I can only see once and that is it. It was SO powerful, and SO intense...if I ever do see it again it will be a very long time! (Schindler's List is another "one shot deal"). It is branded in my psyche, though...it's impact will stay with me forever! I praise God for Mel Gibson...he has his issues but he has to have a heart for God deep down in there somewhere to make a movie like that!

Have a blessed day, Child of God!

  4. Hi Kimberly,

Yea, it is a pretty intense movie! I know 2 people who gave their lives to Christ, one person who re-dedicated his life and a few others that were changed after watching this movie. I wouldn't let my kids watch this movie until they came into their teen years and even then it was very hard on them.

    God bless,

  7. Hi *Ross and Katy*,

If you can watch the whole movie, I would really recommend it. It is very powerful but it really does bring to life what Jesus did for us. Powerful.

  8. Hi Child of God -

    Thank you for this.

"While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

It is so rich to have our Lord to abide within us and for us to
abide in Him. The richest place to be is in JESUS. Bless His holy name!

  11. A scene from the film that I've often remembered and thought about after wards was that of Jesus stepping in between the condemning crowd and the woman caught in adultery.(I wonder where the guy was!) In a culture and at a time when the status of women was pretty precarious, Jesus Christ the Son of God stepped in to speak up for her, forgive her and save her. He alone was willing to stick his neck out for the lady.

The camera angle and movement were so powerfully effective, I thought. It captured the beauty of mercy. It encapsulated the woman's despair and God's overwhelming love. So glad you posted this.

Blessings to you Child of God.

  12. Hi Lon,
This is a very powerful movie. Really brings to life what Jesus did for us.

    Hi Vilisi,
Yes, I agree that is a very powerful scene of mercy. I thought the movie, although a bit on the gorey side, was beautifully done.

    Peace in Christ,

  13. I saw this movie with our church, when it first came out. I had come to realize just how much our Heavenly Father loved us (sinners) through the Holy Scriptures, but to watch the Passion of Jesus and what He had to go throughcaused me to grip the theater seats arm with white knuckles in horror. To think that He endured that for me (as you say) blows me away and I just cannot wrap my mind around it. Who am I that the Creator of heaven and earth should care and die for? What love, agape love, He has for His Children!
