Ezekiel 3:1-3

My Freshly Brewed Life
Today I am linking up with Barbie from My Freshly Brewed Life, where we are just going to share a scripture with a simple reflection. Feel like joining?

Ezekiel 3:1-3 NIV
And he said to me, “Son of man, eat what is before you, eat this scroll; then go and speak to the people of Israel.” So I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat.
Then he said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.” So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.

I love prophecy and Ezekiel is chalk full of it. :) When I read these verses I think of many prophetic pictures but what is sticking out to me now is how very sweet God's word is. Have you had honey right from the beehive? It is totally different than store bought honey. It is very flavorful, rich and also very nutritious for you as well. God's word is sweet and will fill you up and nourish your spirit.

The instructions given here for Ezekiel are to eat the words God is giving him, fill up his stomach and then go to the people and speak. Just as food nourishes and strengthens us and allows our body to keep living, God's word will strengthen and grow our spirit so we can do God's work. Spreading the good news about Jesus Christ is the number one job of Christians and when we are full and well nourished on God's sweet words the good news about Jesus will come out in our every day conversations.

Have an awesome Sunday,

  3. Hi JBR,
It really is amazing just how God's word does strengthen us. There are some days that I feel so overwhelmed I think nothing will make me feel better. God's word always gives me just what I needed at all times.

  6. Hi Child of God,
Awesome reflection on this passage of Scripture. Jesus said we should not live on bread alone, but every word of God. Thank you for sharing and God bless,
    Ken
