Spirit & Wind

John 3:8 NIV
Google Image

"The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

Wind and Spirit share some of the same qualities here, both are invisible to our sight and neither of them can be controlled by people. Each being ruler and independent of its own actions.

The wind does as it pleases and people cannot control where it is going or where it has come from. Even though the wind is invisible, the effects of it can be seen. You can hear it, see the changes of its movement by watching the trees sway or the grass billow. In the same way you can see the effects of the Spirit by the fruit that it produces in the life of a born again. The bitter person becomes happy and joyful, anger turns into praise and hate turns into love. When we yield to the calling of the Holy Spirit, He will produce fruit in us that will be seen by all.

John 4:24

"God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

God is Spirit and He is Holy, who can direct His path and He does as it pleases Him. His business is Self-governing and He has power over the most hardened of sinners. Like the wind, who can order Him about and direct His path?

We may be confused by how the Spirit works, but if we yield to His teachings His fruit will show in our personalities and our lives.

Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

  3. Hi Child of God,

This is such a great post, for I just love it!

Just goes to show how we born again Christians are one big family.

My wife was just talking to me about this today, that we're unable to see the wind.

Something happened to me that I never thought I would have ever done, with this certain individual, but the Holy Spirit had me witness about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in telling this person that it's only through the Blood of Jesus Christ that their sins can be forgiven and that they can receive Eternal Life, and believe me, with this certain individual I would have never made this step, but the Holy Spirit had me do it regardless. This person didn't like that I told them this, but the strange thing of it is, is that I don't care, for I was only following the instructions as the Holy Spirit guided me to do. So I did indeed plant the seed.

God's blessings to you my sister in Christ!

    From your brother in Christ,
    misting fog

  4. Hi misting fog,

Yes, we are one big family and our Daddy is a King! That's enough to make my heart swell and swell.

Pretty neat that you were talking about the wind with your wife today. I love the wind and all creation. I see the hand of God in everything He made. Once you know Him you can't help but see Him in all things.

Way to go, stepping out in faith and planting seeds. I will pray that this seed planted will grow and there will be another follower of Christ.

Blessings bro and thanks for sharing.

  6. Hi Child of God,

Thank you for visiting my blog from time to time, I do appreciate that you take time to leave a response to my posts.

This is a lovely post - the gentleness of the Holy Spirit, His sweetness... It is my desire to have the nine fold fruit of the Spirit growing in my life!

To be led, guided, inspired by the Holy Spirit... on a daily, moment by moment basis... this is my ongoing prayer.

    Love and blessings...

  10. This is so true. Many years ago I witnessed the spirit as a wind, and it roared. We had just moved into our newly built house and my husband as usual was out. It was about eleven at night when he returned to discover the front door wide open and us all in bed. He awoke me, very angry and told me he closed the door and I was to be more careful in future.I felt confused as I remembered placing the milk bottles on the front step and locking that door. Well the next thing there was a roaring wind through the house. It was like a hurricane and terrifying. I got out of bed and we both ran to the bedroom door and looked down the hallway to the heavy front door. It stood wide open and the wind sound could still be heard. As I walked down the hallway a short time later, I knew in my heart all was well. When I got to the dining room and looked towards the side door, I knew again, all evil was gone from the house. My first husband was an unbeliever. I spent a hard thirty years with him, but God was always with me.
He didn't understand my a peace. and was terrified. He got his shotgun out and sat in the hallway guarding the door for hours. I went peacefully to bed and slept. I will never ever forget the spirit wind that night.

  11. Hi Crystal Mary,
What a wild story!! Love it. :) I love how you knew it was the Holy Spirit and how you felt calm afterwards. I love the presence of the Holy Spirit, so powerful yet peaceful. Usually I am filled with joy, a bubbly feeling inside my tummy; totally wonderful.

I am glad that the Holy Spirit was with you through those rough 30 years. I am glad that you have peace now.

Blessings and thanks so much for sharing this story.

Excellent post!! A life set free and changed by the Holy Spirit is a life fulfilling its true destiny.
We don't have to lean on our own understanding - we just have to surrender and trust.

  13. Amen! There are many things about God that are beyond comprehension. We live by faith and not by sight.

  14. Hi Deb,
Thanks for stopping by. We sure do need to trust the Lord, sometime this is really tough but He always comes in and gives us what we need; He is faithful and we are faithless.

    Hi Ron,
I believe in all of the eternity that we will spend with Him we will still never understand Him. Thanks for stopping by.
