Happy New Year! 

2015

In my neck of the woods we are holding at around 0 degrees Celsius and have a ton of snow!! I am so thankful for 4x4 and studded tires otherwise the family and I would be home bound!

I had a wonderful Christmas with my family and our New Year was brought in with two baptisms on New Years Eve. What a deep joy to see two young kids make a public declaration of their love for Jesus. Now that’s the way to start a new year!

I also learned to downhill ski. Although I was terrified at first I did it and now I am able to make it down the green hill without falling. I can hardly wait to go again! It was so much fun.

I have spent a lot of time praying asking Father if He had a new word for me this year. 2013 I had Spiritual Warfare, 2014 He gave me Obedience and 2015 He has taken obedience and brought it into two divisions. Submission; Surrender. I have mentioned before I feel like I am a spinning top going deeper and deeper into Father as I swiftly spin on top of Jesus my Centre, my Support, my Everything.

Submission: (n)

the quality or condition of being submissive to another

Surrender: (verb used with object)

 

1. to yield (something) to the possession or power of another; deliver up possession of on demand or under duress:

5. to yield or resign (an office, privilege, etc.) in favor of another.

This past year has brought a lot of changes not only to my daily life but to who I am as a person. I am being stretched beyond what I ever thought was possible. I am doing things I couldn’t even bring myself to think about without getting sick over. The biggest challenge has been praying publicly, over a speaker, leading our church in opening prayer. I still find it very hard to do but every time I obey Him, He comes right in and fills me up with His Spirit and takes over. That really is a miracle. I am so shy and I really dislike being the center of attention but just like our faithful Daddy, He gave me a way that not only helped me do this but brings great glory to Him. When I go up to pray I kneel and ask the church to kneel with me if they are able.

I am excited to see what He has in store for this year, but I must admit, I am a bit nervous too. As He shows me how to yield even more to His will, I am sure it will be painful yet He will be glorified and that is the desire of my heart.

There are two verses that came with these words.

Submission:
 

James 4:7 ESV
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Surrender:

Mark 14:35-36 ESV

And going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

Not Yesterday or Tomorrow BUT TODAY!

An Ultimate Question - The Great Commission, Part 48

Week 48, 2014

         Jesus was crucified between two thieves—yesterday and tomorrow. One of these was in bondage to his past—things he had done. The other was in bondage to the future—asking Jesus to remember Him when He came into His kingdom. While on the cross, Jesus honored the second thief’s amazing faith but corrected his understanding. He said, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Many can only see Jesus in the past, the biblical, historical Jesus. Others focus almost entirely on His coming again. Yet to see Him as He is, we must see Him TODAY. His name is not “I was,” or “I will be,” but “I AM.” Yesterday no longer exists and neither does tomorrow. The only thing we truly have to live in is the present, and that is where we must see Him and walk with Him.

         I appreciate the wristbands that say, “What would Jesus do?” I wore one for years and still try to apply it to my life, but I think what we really need is one that says, “What is Jesus doing?” So an ultimate question should be, “What is the Lord doing in the world today?” Are we a part of this? If not, why not?

         A second ultimate question would be, “What is the Lord doing in my life today?” This really needs to be asked before asking the previous question. The Lord is doing many things in the world today, and no one is capable of being a part of them all, but we should understand them and know where we fit in.

         When the Spirit is first mentioned in Scripture, He is moving. I have never found a verse that says He has stopped. Therefore, to walk with the Lord in the present almost always involves being part of a movement. A movement is moving, going somewhere. This is the nature of the word of life—it is a river, not a lake or a pond. A river is moving, going somewhere.

         Where are we going in our spiritual lives?

I have finished my morning chores. The animals are all fed, the chickens are roaming in the newly fallen snow and I am in my comfy chair reading the desire of my heart, words of God. This Rick Joyner devotional is a weekly email sent to my inbox. Often I feel moved by the words Rick shares and today's devotional is no exception. It really is, for me, another confirmation about waiting on what Father has in store for me to do to further His Kingdom. It is not about yesterday or tomorrow but what He is doing today; what I am doing for Him today...

While I wait I will praise and glorify Him.

Season of Waiting

It’s November 24! I am sitting in my quiet home looking out the window watching the birds flutter to and fro from the bare tree to the bird feeder. The snow is melting off of the roof in steady drops and I can’t believe that 2014 is almost done.

My kids have one more week of school before their final exams and I have made it thus far without them constantly around me.

I have been searching and seeking the will of Father for my life. Reading His Word, praying for guidance and just soaking in His wonderful presence forever waiting and waiting for Him to reveal to me what it is He would now have me do. There isn’t a day that goes by that I am not looking to Him to see if He is ready to show me His plan.

Habakkuk 2:1-2 ESV

I will take my stand at my watchpost

and station myself on the tower,

and look out to see what he will say to me,

and what I will answer concerning my complaint.

And the LORD answered me:

“Write the vision;

make it plain on tablets,

so he may run who reads it.

I am content right here in the center of His presence waiting on Him for His timing.

The Light Exposes Who We Really Are

"This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God." - John 3:19-21

There are some things that just don’t like the light– at the top of the list are these four things: One cockroaches. Two, rats. Three, teenagers making out in a dark room, when a parent comes in and turns on the light. And four, a thief in the night. None of those four like the light. Why? Because the light says, “You’re up to no good!” So, obviously, there’s a tendency for roaches, rats, smooching teenagers, and thieves in the night to run for cover when the light comes on. They don’t want their deeds exposed.

Really, this is true for all of us. The closer we get to the Light, the more our sins are exposed. The closer a person is to Christ, the more aware they are of their sinfulness. The further a person is from Christ, the more unaware they are of their sinfulness and they tend to think that they’re basically pretty good people. So, when the Light exposes who they really are, they prefer to flee toward the darkness.

But there is good news in all of this. John 1:9 says, “There was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.” And 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness.” In other words, in Jesus, we are made clean – we don’t have to fear exposure. He is the Light that leads us into righteous living.

Right From the Heart is one of my devotions that I read and this particular one really stood out to me. Those who are actively sinning and don't want to change their ways cannot stand in the light of God, He burns them not because He is mean but because they are unwilling to let go of their sin, and it is the sin they are clasping on to that burns them so they need to flee into the dark. 

I have had the chance on many occasions to witness to those who are walking in sin and Scripture will shut them down every time. Who can argue with God? No one. His Words are living and active and they will either convict a person of the wrong they are doing and they will repent or that person will leave for the light that is shining on them they cannot tolerate for it exposes the evil that they choose not to let go of.

Yom Kippur

Leviticus 25:9 ESV
Then you shall sound the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall sound the trumpet throughout all your land.

Today is the day of atonement, the holiest day of the year for Jewish people.

John 14:6 ESV

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Yom Kippur (Hebrew: יוֹם כִּפּוּר, IPA: [ˈjom kiˈpuʁ], or יום הכיפורים), also known as Day of Atonement, is the holiest day of the year for the Jewish people.[1] Its central themes are atonement and repentance. Jewish people traditionally observe this holy day with an approximate 25-hour period of fasting and intensive prayer, often spending most of the day in synagogue services.

This Wednesday October 8 2014 will come in, at 3:51 am PDT, the second blood moon, which falls on the Jewish holiday Sukkot.

Sukkot, Succot or Sukkos (Hebrew: סוכות‎ or סֻכּוֹת sukkōt or sukkos, Feast of Booths, Feast of Tabernacles) is a biblical Jewish holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the month of Tishrei (varies from late September to late October). It is one of the Three Pilgrimage Festivals (shalosh regalim) on which the Israelites would make a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem.

The blood moon falling on all of these Jewish holy days is a very rare occurrence.

The last time that four blood red moons occurred together was in 1967-1968, probably related to the recapture of Jerusalem by Israel. The time that the tetrad occurred before this was in 1949-1950, probably related to Israel becoming a nation. Before this time, the last occurrence was 1493-1494, probably related to the expulsion of the Jews from Spain.

Since 1 AD, a "Biblical tetrad" has occurred on these holy days a total of 7 times. In 2014-2015, it will be the 8th time. It won't occur again for another 500 years.

To me it seems reasonable to say that the coming of Jesus Christ is very near and we need to be alert and prepared to hear the blasting of the trumpet when He calls His children home. Are you ready?

Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the. hour. 

We do not know the hour when our Savior will call us but we can know the signs. With the turmoil of ISIS, or ISIL  beheading children and Christians over seas and recently here in North America, we can know that it will be very soon.

Be prepared. Be on the lookout.
