He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
Revelation 8:2-4 NIV
And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand.
Revelation 8:3-5 NIV
Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.

I have a cry in my heart that only the Lord understands. So many people suffering and I ache inside for them. Turning to Revelations I see that the prayers of the people are mixed with and ARE a bowl of incense offered up to God. The Lord hears our prayers. Keep praying and praying with all kinds of prayers and petitions to our God for He hears and will act. Praise You Lord.

I am so thankful the Lord hears our prayers. Thank you for sharing this wonderful post.
ReplyDeleteHello Joy, As I read your Revelation reading where is says about the earth quake I thought of New Zealand and the new catastrophy there..we surely are in the end times. Yet God does listen to and hear the prayers of his people. What I especially loved was how out prayers rise like incense...how beautiful and special...it was like reading, that to God, his children are like a sweet perfume. Love it. xx sweet sister. xx
ReplyDeleteA cry in our heart only HE understands. Amen
ReplyDeleteBless you for being a prayer warrior.
Wow. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! And that picture is adorable!
ReplyDelete(And I'd have to agree-our Godson is adorable but he sure does have a sneaky side!)
Hi Ken,
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful how God listens?!
Hi Crystal Mary,
I heard about that earthquake, scary stuff! I loved that part about our prayers rising like incense, so cool.
Hi Ma,
I am so glad He understands this cry.
Hi R&K,
I was praying for the mom of the little baby that died and I became over whelmed! God hears these prayers and there is a reason.
Your godson is so cute and you can see that sneaky side in his smile. :)
Filled with Joy!

The two images you selected to accompany this post are so very powerful!!! I couldn't stop staring at them! The one of the little boy and his doggie...priceless!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of prayers that lay so heavy on you that you feel like you'll burst if you don't get it out, I think of "groanings which cannot be uttered"...sometimes I even pray in my dreams!!! Our spirits that are connected with the Holy Spirit somehow just "know" how to touch the throne, even when we are not conscious of it, if we are surrendered to Him. The hard part comes in sometimes yielding to that prompting of the Spirit to pray. I am SO glad you are such a prayer warrior! I cherish your prayers.
The Bible talks about "praying without ceasing"...I believe that our spirits can be connected to God throughout the day in such a way to where we are in a constant attitude and posture of prayer and intercession, even when we wash the dishes and type blog comments! :) Lord, help me to be more sensitive to your Spirit!
Hi Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing about the pics! I think in pictures and scenes and those two really describe how I feel.
Thanks for this comment for it seems that our hearts are in the same line. :)

ReplyDeleteHi Child of God -
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the words of our Lord!
That photo of the boy and the dog is a delight.
Hi Sandra,
ReplyDeleteI love this picture of the boy and his dog. My family and I pray together every night before bed and it is so sweet because the cats like to be involved too. I like to believe that they are joining in during our prayer time for most often they are purring or doing something to be involved. :)
Blessings,
