Gleaning Nuggets of Gold

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make
your paths straight.

The above verse is fairly easy to do when your life is smooth sailing. If the trials you face are only involving you then this can be doable, hard, but doable. But, bring other people into the equation like your loved ones and this can be very difficult especially if there is a life threatening situation at hand.

God asks us to trust Him and His wisdom even when we can't see the rationale behind it. He wants us to recognize Him in every situation that we come across, not just the easy stuff but the really hard, tough stuff, like the sickness or death of a dear loved one.

When we trust and acknowledge His presence and divine, perfect ways, then we realize that our paths are straighter and our destination one of peace, joy and pure bliss even when the outcome is not favourable.

Jeremiah 17:7 NIV
But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

Blessed in Dictionary.com

1. consecrated; sacred; holy; sanctified: the Blessed Sacrament.
2. worthy of adoration, reverence, or worship: the Blessed Trinity.
3. divinely or supremely favoured; fortunate: to be blessed with a strong, healthy body; blessed with an ability to find friends.
4. blissfully happy or contented.

If we trust in the Lord we are considered by Him consecrated, scantified, supremely favoured, sacred and holy. When we trust in the Lord we are sanctified with Jesus Christ and become one with Him. Jesus is holy and through His sacrifice we too are holy.

Painful trials like the loss and sickness of a loved one are very hard to go through, but if we go through it trusting in God and His ways then we will come out on the plus side. We may not understand the reasons why this side of life but He does assure us that we will understand. Then we will see His plan and all things will fall into perfect perspective.

Psalm 125:1 NIV
Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.

Although sometimes very painful, God's ways are always perfect and right. Trust in Him, He will provide the explanation eventually. The lessons and gold nuggets we gain through the trials of life are precious and worth the pain we go through, but only if we keep our eyes on Jesus and look through His window and not ours.

Father,
What I intend for good can be flawed and lack wholeness. Please help me to trust in You and Your perfect ways even when it looks like my whole world is falling apart. Even when I am in amongst pain and suffering, help me to keep my eyes on You and trust that You do indeed know what is right and good will come out of any situation that I give fully into Your capable hands. I trust You Lord, help me in this I pray. In Jesus name, amen.

Blessings,

  1. You have no idea how much I needed that verse today, but He did :) Thank you so much for getting it up for me to see-I'm having a few issues and I've been stressing and worrying for the past couple of days. I should know better by now-thank you!

    1. Hi Katy,
Isn't it amazing how God does that? I hope you resolve these issues and give the stress to Him who is in control of all.

    2. It is easy to be a "fair weather" Christian, but is that what the Lord wants us to be. You are so right that it is the "bumps in the road", the hard times, and misfortunes that test and show our faith and trust in God. I love the Reply of Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego to King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 3:17-18: "If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Facing the threat of certain death, they put their complete trust in their faith of God. I admit that I am not there. Nobody desires a "blazing furnace" day, but if and when they come, we need to remember that we were "born again to win". Victory is ours in Christ and we are heaven-bound, so let's live like it now. Great "Billboard" post along the highway of life for us all to see and remember that in good times and bad times, we are a child of God. Thanks for the blessing.

    3. Hi Brian,
Thanks for these words of wisdom! I don't believe I am there yet either, although sometimes I would like to think I am and then God puts me in a situation and I realize, ah nope, I failed again. I love this... Nobody desires a "blazing furnace" day, but if and when they come, we need to remember that we were "born again to win". Victory is ours in Christ and we are heaven-bound, so let's live like it now. In Jesus we are born to win. This is a good thought to keep in mind while going through the furnace.

  2. Yes, its so hard at times to just let go and rest in the Lord, knowing that He can work it out. We do tend to lean on our own understanding. Lately I have let go more and more, and left my complete problem with Him. It has worked out much better than I could have ever done it and I have been amazed.. it is the best way.

    1. Hi Crystal Mary,
Yes the trusting part can be very tough sometimes, but He sure does like to stretch and grow us. :) I am glad to hear that you are learning to trust His ways. It really encourages others to hear this, to help them to keep on trying for there is reward in it.

  4. hi child of God,

i told a friend recently that God has a way of bringing us to the end of ourselves. leastways it's happened to me recently. then it's like you have no choice but to trust Him. that is if you're a believer. but one can't help but to give Him praise because even when we are faithless,He remains faithful. i'm clinging to Him these days for sure. and learning the most difficult lesson in the process. liked the post and the comments left by others here.

  5. Hi Sojourner,
You too eh? ;P The end of the rope is a precarious spot to be. It is a good thing that God is always there ready to catch and carry you when you are ready to surrender all to Him.

Cling to Him friend for He is trustworthy. I have been thinking of you lots and wondering how you have been doing. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a note. And yes there are awesome comments here by some pretty amazing people.

  6. It is easy for me to trust God. I began trusting Him when I was 12 years old. In June I will be 70. I will trust Him all the way to my Heavenly Home. God bless you.
