End time prophecy of Damascus, it is really coming true in our life time?
Following the news in the middle east can cause turmoil in our emotions. I cannot help but wonder if Jesus will come and rapture His church in my life time. Thinking on this wonderful event fills me with a mixture of emotions. Joy, anxiety, concern, gloom are only a few of the feelings I have when I think about being swept up into heaven with my King. The thoughts of joy quickly turn to gloom when at the same time I think about the many people suffering physically and those who do not know Jesus as Savior or have turned away from Him. Can this event really happen now or it is still many, many years away? Scripture tells us in Isaiah 17 and Jeremiah 49 that Damascus will be fully destroyed to the point of, Isaiah 17:1, becoming a heap of ruins.
Here is a short 5 minute discussion from American Live on Syria and Biblical prophecy with Joel Rosenberg.
Do we know for certain that this is ushering in the Rapture and the direct coming of our Messiah?
No. Scripture tells us...
Matthew 24:36 ESV
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only."
But, is it possible that what is happening in Syria is the beginning of the complete destruction of this city?
Yes it is possible.
So what should we be doing? We need to be praying for those who are suffering in such a horrific way and praying for the salvation of those who are lost.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Hi child of God,
ReplyDeleteThe book of Daniel does say that knowledge shall be increased in the last days. However only the Lord knows all things. If we keep our minds upon Him He will keep us in perfect peace. We can pray for all people everywhere and evangelize or do whatever the Lord has given us to do. The true answer for peace and love is for everyone to come to the knowledge of salvation through Jesus. Each of us has a purpose but the plan is the Lords and He is able to do all things. There are Christians in Syria and I heard one of them say on the news last night that at the moment they are allowed to practice their faith, but if the rebels took possession of the country they would be killed. Who knows what the truth is there?, only the Lord does.
Hi Brenda,
DeleteI agree the answer for peace is for all to come into relationship with Jesus, but we know, from reading Scripture, that just doesn't happen. There is no point to fret about these times but by prayer interceding in the way our Lord tells us to do, we are fulfilling our roll in Scripture.
There is such a lightness in heart knowing our Father is in control of all and good things will come out of this earthly mess.
Blessings,

I am so glad you linked that news interview with Joel...I just watched it yesterday on his blog. (internet cooperated for once, lol)
ReplyDeleteI follow his Wordpress blog.
The news reporter seemed genuinely interested in what he had to say, and he did a great job in explaining things.
~God bless~ Lisa
Hi Lisa,
DeleteYou and I both love to read what Joel has to say. :) Awareness in prophecy is beneficial to keeping us on our toes and alert to the sign of the times. A sleepy, unaware Christian can be one that looses their salvation in the watering down with worldly ways. We need to be sharp, alert, aware and fully walking in relationship with Jesus do the job He has given us to do.
Nice to see you back hon.
Blessings,
<><
Who can say really? People have been saying the world has been ending since the world began! We do need to keep our eyes on the signs all around us that's for certain.
ReplyDeleteHi Tim,
DeleteI guess when you look at it we all begin the dying process as soon as we are born.
We need to be alert and wise to what is happening around us. Too many Christians are asleep, lazy or too fearful to see that yes indeed prophecy is coming true in our day. The rebirth of Israel as a nation back in 1948 is prophecy fulfilled and now we are in the last of the last days. How long will it be before Jesus returns? Only God knows that so we need to be on our toes ready to depart if He so chooses to call us home in our lifetime.
Blessings,
