John 16:33 NIV
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Peace. Just the sound of that word feels so good. True peace can only be found in Jesus Christ and a relationship with Him. Are you down today? Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Take heart! Jesus has already overcome what you are going through just look to Him and He will give you peace!
I'm linking up with Barbie for Fresh Brewed Sunday.

Hi Brenda,
DeleteBlessings sister. :) Thanks for visiting.

In John 14:27 says: "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.(NKJV) It seems to me that the Lord is saying to us that fear comes from the physical world that we exist and live in, but true peace comes from heaven above, alone. I believe that, as my dear late cousin Laura told us, we need to flip our thinking and "seek first the kingdom" with Christ-minded souls (mind, will and emotions).
ReplyDeleteRomans 8:31 tells us: "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? As President Franklin D. Roosevelt said: "We have nothing to fear but fear itself". The name of our God is Jehovah-Shalom: The Lord Our Peace. We need to be reminded often in this fearful world. Thank you sister for the reminder.
Hi Brian,
DeleteThank you for these verses that complete this post nicely.
I had a nice conversation with my husband and another blogger Ken talking about fear. I have come to the conclusion that we fear because we do not have control and are not willing to submit to God in trust that He is in control and will protect us no matter what the earthly out come is.
I agree with you that true peace can only come from above and that is when we submit everything to Him. We do need to be reminded of this and often. Especially now when it looks like all things are totally out of whack. The earthquake on the west coast with Tsunami warning and the hurricane on the east coast. God is trying to get our attention and in Him alone will we find peace.
Blessings brother thank you for these verses.

ReplyDeleteHi JBR,
DeleteThank you. There were a few paw prints around that my dog did not step on, but this one was the best.

I have read (and been told) many times that Jesus has overcome the world. When I'm going through a tough time and am struggling to understand what and why, something in me begins to resent this word. Maybe because it begins to sound like a cliche when all I want is a clear direct answer.BUT... I love the way you have worded it in your post: 'Jesus has already overcome what you are going through...' You've made it specific and put it in perspective. It makes sense to me and I can therefore apply it. Thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Vilisi,
DeleteSo nice to see you back! :)
How wonderful you can see this verse in a different perspective! I love when that happens to me, it's like all of a sudden what didn't click before now does. Thanks for telling me this made sense to you, it encouraged me a lot.

So many of His wonderful things bring peace, don't they?! Great shot.

we were just talking about peace...and how peace must be from God...and when we feel peace at a decision...it is probably right.
ReplyDeletethat is a great photo!
Hi Annmarie,
DeletePhilippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I believe if in prayer, by praising and worshiping God, we ask Him to guide and direct our steps and decisions and we trust in His Word, He will give us peace. That is how I write my posts. I start in praise and worship and then ask Him what it is that He wants me to write about and then trust that what I feel peace about is His will. I do believe that the decision must line up with God's word, if it is out of line of His word then that is not peace from God but a false peace from the desire of self will.
Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed pondering on your comment.
Blessings,
