And Saul approved of their killing him.
On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison. Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.

DEVOTION
What is it that God wants most out of us? He wants our devotion and our eyes turned on Him, worshipping and seeking out His will, always. What is God’s will? To have His gospel spread starting first with us in a close, personal relationship with Him, then taking what we are learning and sharing it with others who are in need of encouragement, weak in their walk with Him or those who do not know Him at all. How does God accomplish this? Most often He uses persecution to accomplish this task, something to shake us out of our cosy seat.
PURSUE
SPIRAL UP
The more trials I face the deeper into God and His word I dive and the deeper I dive into God's Word the more persecution I would face. Almost like a spiral up into God resulting in the freer I am in talking about Him as my life centres around His Word. I believe this is God’s plan to allow persecution in order for His Gospel to be spread and Himself to be found by believers and non believers alike. Persecution of the flesh through sickness, terror, spiritual warfare or any other calamity will knock us out of complacency and into living a life spreading His Word.
SPREAD THE GOSPEL
When trouble comes your way look to Jesus, seek His face and spread His word. Give glory to God for His plans are always good. Trouble and pain may be coming your way because God loves you and wants you to seek Him. He wants you to get out of your cosy routine life and spread His Word.

Hello Child of God,
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I wonder if one of the reasons the church here in the USA is growing cold and week is because of the lack of persecution?
Blessings,
Ken
Hi Ken,
ReplyDeleteGood thought! I know North America does suffer in other areas but in general 'she' is very free to express 'her' will. Won't be like that for long once the Rapture happens and the Tribulation starts. The mark of the beast will see an end to freedom of speech.
Thanks for stopping by, my mind is starting to churn with this thought.
Blessings,

Hi Child Of God,
ReplyDeleteThis post sure made me think about many things. You are right about trials making us seek God's will.
Nobody wants to go through trials, but we all will, whether we know God or not. We who know the Lord will draw nearer to Him through the trials. Persecution on the other hand only comes when we are serving the Lord with all our hearts, when we are following after His will for us. That's when the enemy will try to stop us from furthering the message of the gospel. We must never become discouraged though. Jesus tells us that we will have trouble in this world, but take heart for He has overcome the world. (John 16:33)
~Blessings~

Hi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteThat's when the enemy will try to stop us from furthering the message of the gospel.
Funny thing about this statement you made is that the enemy will try to stop us but he cannot stop God no matter what the enemy does to us. This is why we are to be joyous in all occasions because God wins always even if we have to suffer some, God still wins. If we suffer with a joyful attitude then we do not become depressed and down.
Thanks for stopping by,

I believe the constant trials in our lives continues to bring us closer to God because we need to trust Him more. Hard to comprehend. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteHi JBR,
ReplyDeleteIt IS hard to comprehend, especially when the trials just don't seem to let up.
