Addison Update and Answered Prayer or Coincidence?

UPDATE ON ADDISON JO

Addison is still fighting for her life and the doctors are all surprised that she hasn't died yet. She has defied death 3 times this week and continues to fight hard. Please continue to pray, interceding on her behalf for a miracle. Praise You God, You have kept Addison alive and fighting. Bless You Father, You are Awesome!

How many times have you blown off answered prayer by thinking oh that was just a coincidence? What does answer to prayer look like? Let me give you a few examples of answered prayer from my life.

Google Image
Just last week my husband fertilized the hayfield knowing that the weather man predicted rain for Saturday evening. So Saturday the hayfield was fertilized and Sunday morning rolled around with no rain on the field. My husband looked at the sky and said, "Hmm it rained to the north, and south of us but nothing hit the field". Monday night rolled around and still no rain. As we were chatting before bed time he said to me, "Saturday it rained to the north and south of us and today it rained to the east and west of us, how come it didn't rain on our farm"? I asked him, "Did you pray and ask God to water the hayfield for us"? He answered with a guilty look, "No". So we prayed for rain and then continued talking. Five minutes later my hubby stopped talking and asked, "What is that noise"? Rain! It started raining and continued to rain off and on all week long! Last night it poured and it has been raining off and on again today with sunshine during the times of no rain! The hayfield is green and starting to grow like crazy. Now, is that coincidence or answered prayer?

A few years ago my husband wanted to knock down the hay but it was just raining like crazy so he asked God please let it stop raining so he could bring in the hay. Within a few days the rain stopped and it got really hot, 40 degrees which is somewhere around 100 F. The field dried up and my husband started cutting the hay. With in a few days the hay was down, raked dried and ready for baling. The sky started clouding up and we asked God "Please no rain, not now or all of the hay will be ruined". So we baled and started hauling the hay off of the field and into the hay shed all the while the cloudy sky started to let the rain down; to the north of us, then to the south of us, then to east and west of us. Before all of the hay was off of the field it was raining all around us except on our hayfield! My husband worked until 1 am pulling the hay bales off of the field and when he got the very last load off of the field and into the hay shed it started to pour on our field! Now, is that coincidence or answered prayer?

A few years ago my son broke his hand in a Taekwondo match. We drove him to the hospital had it x-rayed and sure enough he had a broken bone. SOTK did not want us to pray over his hand because he knows how prayer works, you see he wanted a broken hand, but he consented.  We had his hand put in a cast and the doctor told us to have it x-rayed again in a week to make sure it was setting properly. He told us to look at a 6-8 week recovery and a possible surgery to insert a pin if the bone wasn't healing properly. That night the family and I again prayed for SOTK's hand. The following week we had it x-rayed and you know what? The bone was not broken!! Totally healed, much to SOTK's surprise. But I won't leave this story here our clumsy boy broke his hand two more times in different spots doing the same thing, TKD. :s Now since his hand healed so quickly the first time he down right refused to be prayed over again because he wanted to show off his cast to his team mates, and he actually rebuked the prayer on the third time only to find out yet again his hand had healed again in one week and the last time in less than one week. Now is that coincidence or answered prayer?

A pony I have, Stormy, was very ill with laminitis (acutely painful inflammation of the foot, or hoof) and the vet thought we would have to put him down. He foundered very bad and he didn't want to stand up. We treated him aggressively with medicines and cutting his feet back very short. He was in very critical condition and our vet just didn't give us any hope of him making it. I was very distraught. You see a few weeks prior I had just lost my horse Majestic Warrior to colic and I couldn't bare to lose another one so soon. I cried out to God NO! Please, please save Stormy I promise I will believe this is Your miracle and not a coincidence. That night we got a phone call from our vets saying Stormy took a radical turn for the better and if all looked good tomorrow we could bring him home! We brought him home the next day and Stormy was well on the way to recovery. It did take almost 2 years for complete recovery and that was over 14 years ago, Stormy is still with us. So you tell me was that answered prayer or coincidence?

1 Kings 19:11-13 NIV

The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

Stormy our Shetland pony
Often God speaks to us in a gentle whisper and if we are not listening to Him we pass it off as coincidence. Before Stormy was ill I had asked God to answer my prayers but had often shook answered prayer off as coincidence. My car wouldn't start and I prayed and it started. Oh that was just coincidence. I tore the ligaments in my ankle but still wanted to run and train in Taekwondo, I prayed and asked God to heal me. I was able to continue running, hiking, training in TKD but because I wasn't 100% healed, I passed it off as coincidence.

Luke 16:31 NIV

“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

What about you? Will you believe, or will you pass it off as coincidence?

Prayer Warriors Needed

Addison
Please pray for a little girl named Addison who has neuroblastoma. She had a surgery last week that has spiraled down hill. She is now in critical condition and waiting for another surgery tomorrow.

You can visit her blog and read her story here. Her mom and dad have asked for prayer and a miracle, for as it stands right now Addison is on a ventilator along with other life support machines. This little girl needs nothing short of a miracle from God.

Please pray!

Its a Spiritual Battle

Ephesians 6:11-13 NIV
Google Image

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

We are in a spiritual battle between God and Satan. With Jesus dieing on the cross the war has been won but the individual battles will continue until the last Gentile, Romans 11:25, has given their life to Christ. Only God will give the victory over Satan so we must fight in the spiritual not the physical. How do we accomplish taking our physical selves with material needs and focusing on the spiritual, something we cannot see? By turning our mind towards love, because love covers all and God is love. Matthew 7:7 tells us to ask and we will receive. Ask God to fill you up with His love for His people and He will for this pleases Him. If we go into this spiritual battle without love then we are only asking to be beaten up and shot. Only God is able to win the battles against Satan for Satan is spirit and so is God. This is His fight and although we are caught in the middle of it we are not capable of battling this in our own strength for we are carnal and Satan uses the flesh to fight and win. We need to go into the deep love of Jesus and the word of God in order to win and we accomplish this by praising God and worshiping Him.

King Jehoshaphat was told that the Moabites, Ammonites and Meunites were preparing to wage war against him. Jehoshaphat went straight to the Lord for help and instructions on what to do.

2 Chronicles 20:14-24
Then the Spirit of the LORD came on Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly.
He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.
Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel.  You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’”
Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the LORD. Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the LORD, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.
Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.” After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying:
   “Give thanks to the LORD,
   for his love endures forever.”
As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. The Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
When the men of Judah came to the place that overlooks the desert and looked toward the vast army, they saw only dead bodies lying on the ground; no one had escaped.

Google Image
Did you catch that? Jehoshaphat sent out in front of the army, men to sing worship and praises to God. It says that as they began to sing and praise, the Lord set up ambushes. Now how cool is that! Prayer and worship to our God is very powerful. I guess if I had to compare spiritual warfare to something tangible I would liken it to biological warfare towards people and the internet. It sneaks in without us knowing, is very deadly and spreads rapidly. God has given us the key to use on spiritual warfare, the antidote to the poison that Satan spreads through hate, and it begins with loving God, praising and worshiping Him and taking that love and loving the people that God created in His image. This is the switch and when we flick this switch then God goes ahead and does His thing by reversing the effects of hate and evil.

We have all heard it said that the truth will set you free but the knowledge of this phrase cannot do anything to stop Satan. The more information we know only allows for more places that Satan can come in and warp our minds. Even if you did find a way to stop Satan from twisting your mind around to suit his pleasure then he would just attack you physically through our senses, illness or financially or come in through relationships and so on. The truth that sets us free is through a personal ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ. In an intimate relationship with Jesus we engage all aspects of ourselves through, thoughts, knowledge, wisdom, feelings, experiences, memories, deeds, tastes, time and so on. If every part of you is involved with Jesus it won't matter how Satan attacks because Jesus will be there to deflect and counter the poison that Satan tries to ooze into us. Even the worst tricks and schemes from Satan can be turned into good to glorify God.

A good place start this spiritual warfare is by loving God and worshiping Him, so go ahead and find some worship music and pour your heart out to God in songs of praise and watch Satan melt way like the witch from Dorthy in the Wizard of Oz.

Philippians 4:4 NIV
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Happy Day

Oh what a glorious day!!

Ok, so I am a bit on the Kim Walker, Jesus Culture thing but this is where Jesus is really leading me lately, strong into worship music. These songs really speak to me and I believe there is someone who will view this that will reap a bountiful harvest in their spirit while watching this. Praise God!

Jesus is ALIVE, oh happy day You wash my sin away!! I'll never be the same, forever I am changed. Jesus I am Yours and You are mine!!
Oh what a glorious day, You have saved me!!

Ecclesiates 3:11-13 NIV
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.

SQUEAKS!!!

Ok, gush!! This recoding is from my daughter, Squeaks. I just had to share it. There are a few glitches but that is ok she is not a professional. Squeaks version of "Smile" by Uncle Cracker.
Squeak's blogs; The Minstrel Warrior and Hidden Doorways.

Job 29:23-25 NIV

They waited for me as for showers
and drank in my words as the spring rain.
When I smiled at them, they scarcely believed it;
the light of my face was precious to them.
I chose the way for them and sat as their chief;
   I dwelt as a king among his troops;
I was like one who comforts mourners.
Blessings,

God; Who is He and what does He want?

I had a really cool conversation with a young man Tuesday night. We were talking about Jesus and how he agrees with me that there will be a huge awakening in not only our town but in our province and all over North America. He, I'll call him John, also believes that this awakening will start with the younger people ushering it in by their love for Jesus and their persistence in seeking His face. John was at the prophetic conference I attended last week and he really experienced the power of the Holy Spirit and was filled with the love of the Lord.

Google Image
Our conversation was directed towards what will draw people to Jesus and the awakening. John explained to me how one day while he was working, a man, I'll call him Thomas, from our church came in and questioned John on why he was so full of life and joy. John went on to explain to this man that it was because he loved Jesus so much and was just over joyed with how much Jesus loved him.Thomas scolded John and told him that he shouldn't focus on the love of Jesus but on repentance. Thomas left John with the words I'll be praying for your salvation.

Wow, generations at odds again! This really got me into my thinking mode about Who is God and really what does He want? Repentance? Love? Devotion? What is He looking for? Thomas is correct in saying that we need repentance and John is correct in saying we need to seek His face. I believe we cannot have an awakening unless all the generations work together with the passion our Lord has given each of us.

Luke 5:31-32 NIV
Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9 NIV
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Corinthians 7:9-10 NIV
yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Psalm 24:5-6 NIV
They will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God their Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob.

2 Chronicles 7:11-13 NIV
“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.

John and Thomas are both correct, we need repentance while we are seeking His face and I believe this is what God wants us to do, for God is love. Generations need to work together not knocking each other down. The younger cannot say to the older this is the way it is to be done and the older cannot say to the younger no this is the way. We need to take the gifts and passions that God has given each generation and combine them together in one voice glorifying and honouring God; seeking His face in humility and repentance.

1 John 4:7-10 NIV
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Google Image

God is love. He sent His only son for you and for me. Right now He is all cuddly, warm and very welcoming but soon this will not be the case for the Bible tells us that Jesus will be returning and He will be returning as the Warrior He is, after all He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah and He is coming back to claim all that belongs to Him and that is His church, the people who have believed on the work He did on the cross. No one knows the hour or the time of His return but if you follow the news you are sure to know that the time is growing short.

Come into Him now for He came as a lamb and we are living in a time of grace. His love abounds and His gifts are good, seek His face, repent of the old self and walk in the footsteps of Jesus. Come as you are right now for He loves you so much and He has patience and is willing to teach you and pick you up when you fall. We are heading into a great awakening don't you think it would be really cool to be a part of it?

Acts 2:17-18 NIV
“‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
   and they will prophesy".

Building up or Tearing down

Ephesians 4:29-32 NIV

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Google Image
I use to, (before kids and RA), work with hard to handle, 'dangerous' horses and I was quite good at getting a hard to handle horse to submit. The reason a horse will be labeled 'dangerous' is because these are the type of horses that would rather fight than flee. If you have a 1300 pound horse fighting you the outcome will likely be either a wounded trainer, or most often the case is a battered and abused horse which then becomes very dangerous because they would rather fight then submit under almost any circumstance. These are the horses that I thrived in working with and I had huge success in dealing with 'dangerous' horses. Why? Because I used Ephesians 4:29-32 and converted these words into horse language. Yes, you read this right, horse language. :) I could take on one of these massive beasts and gain their trust, getting them to do anything I asked them to do all in a matter of a few months. How, by TLC (tender loving care). Telling them in body language NO you don't act like that and YES you do act in this way when they show even the slightest movement towards what I asked. You cannot bully a horse with the fight tendencies but you can convince them with positive actions that what you ask is beneficial to them in the form of rewards. The same is true for people.

When someone corrects with harsh degrading words our tendency is to fight back and rebel instead of correcting our ways. If you pull your brother or sister aside and gently correct them with positive up lifting words yet still letting them know what they have done is wrong then the results will pull towards a self correction in attitude and repentance of the sin committed and a willingness to do what is right.

Google Image Submissive horse
When Jesus was on the cross He said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”. Luke 23:33 NIV  Again after He rose up He showed Himself to the disciples He said,  And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”  John 20:22-23 NIV

Jesus wants us to forgive and build each other up in the Lord. These are some of the very last words He spoke before He gave up His life and then again they are some of the very first words He spoke when He had risen and shown Himself to the disciples. Forgiveness is hard especially when someone close to you has hurt you. But it is the forgiveness and trusting again that allows us to become free.

One of the horses I owned was a very dangerous filly who almost killed someone by kicking them in the chest and collapsing their lung. She was labeled dangerous and was going to be shot. God led me to her and I begged the owner to let me buy her. He was only willing to agree if I could prove to him that I could work with her in front of him. If I could show him that I could handle her then he would sell her to me. I had only 1 week to spend with her before I had to show him I was able to handle her. By the time I had to perform in front of her owner, I was able to have her follow me around the arena, pick up her feet and make her back up, which is huge trusting feat in a horse with fight tendencies. He agreed to the sale and wished me luck. I ended up calling her Majestic Warrior, for she had a fighting heart that was so big. Eventually War would do anything I asked of her because she trusted me and if horses could forgive, I believe she forgave people for the wicked abuse she suffered at the hand of a cruel owner.

Forgiveness is the key to healing physically and spiritually. When we hang onto hatred, fear, anger, mistrust and so on we cannot heal. God also tells us that if we do not forgive then He won't hear our prayers. Our hearts need to be clean in front of God, we need to confess our sins to Him even the little sins that we think are not important, you know that little white lie you told? Yea that one. :)

James 5:14-16 NIV
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Every abused animal that I have ever worked with turn out to be some of the nicest animals ever, willing to go that extra mile because of kindness shown to them. If this happens with mere animals can you imagine what would happen when kindness is shown to  people? I believe there would be more people giving their lives over to Christ if we did as the Good Book said, love your neighbour as yourself. After all we sure do take care of ourselves.

Pray, in all things ask and talk to God, repent of our sins, (all of them), ask for forgiveness, forgive those who have hurt us, even though they really don't deserve it or continue to hurt us. Then, I believe, we will experience the freedom that God has for us.

Praying and praying,
